Plagiarism is considered as the action of presenting the content of another author as his own. This can be literary, scientific, artistic, among others. The same arises at the moment when a person’s ideas are decided, without granting his due accreditation, however, is it possible to violate the rules of the copyright in an unconsciously? The answer is yes;since plagiarism is not considered simply as the partial or whole copy of a work, but that there are other forms which are considered as plagiarism and perhaps go unnoticed by the author. Next, reference will be made to the 5 most common types of plagiarism and as these can be avoided by said creator or cause.

Some names designated for the identification of the different types of plagiarism are: cloning, mosaic, copied and glued, remix, search and replacement. All these have characteristics in common, however, they have distinctive qualities that make them differ from each other. For example: making use of content completely and showing it as their own is defined as cloning, while copied and attached is to use parts of the same source and paste them in the document to be written as if they were their own. On the other hand, Mosaic is a term to indicate the collection of a material extracted from different sources. This is very similar to Remix, however, the latter is characterized by being paraphrased. Finally, in the search and replacement plagiarism, a source is used as such, changing keywords without modifying the essence of the material.

Prior to writing a document it is important to expand our knowledge, based on sources that inform us about the subject to be discussed. This is useful to offer an article that is valid, however, when doing this, we run with the risk of committing plagiarism. A useful way to avoid plagiarism is through the correct citation, since many times it lacks the document or is not correctly composed. Another way to avoid plagiarism is paraphrasing, using own ideas and subsequently accrediting the authority where the information arose. Finally, the search for writing standards is relevant, since through this the author may be aware of how a text is written and how this can avoid the plagiarism of other documents of interest.

In conclusion, plagiarism represents the opposite of professional ethics, and the latter is a very important factor on which we are training as doctors.
