Platform safety and fakenews when using Facebook

Since last decade it has been known that Facebook has managed to enter each person’s day to day, becoming the pillar of social networks boom, however, the creator of this, Mark Zuckerberg, did not expect this success, since I only believe it as a small virtual space for Harvard students. To what this essay is going, it is a bit to talk about the security of the platform, we all know how to take care of our profile data, applying filters to these, but this test is not just about personal information, I will also try to address aLittle about the famous "fake news" and the time we spend in the application, since in the circumstances we are living, it becomes more common to be on social networks most of the day.

What Facebook does by grain, is to process your personal data, that is, hours of connection, the publications, the relationships we establish with other people, the tools we use (games and applications), I like that we give or what it isWhat we share. All that compendium of variables are used by your algorithm to find out what really interests us, but is it legal to do this?, Apparently yes, because at the time of creating an account we agree with all the conditions of use that it puts without even reading them (in most cases), the bad thing about this is that we get used to this bad practice, eachsomething we do on the Internet we ignore it without thinking about the consequences that it could entail, all this for doing things faster or by simple laziness.

Wait! Platform Safety And Fakenews When Using Facebook paper is just an example!

Leaving aside the bad practices, what they do with our Facebook data is to occupy it for advertising, an article by The Guardian talks about how the social network influenced the United States elections in 2015, since they talk about how they polarizedAbout 50 million profiles from this same country, to make them even more advertising about certain political tastes, something like motivating the undecided to vote for a specific candidate. This example shows the ease with which personal information can be accessed, so Facebook policies should be fixed, it is very easy to access people’s data, nobody knows who or who are behind the screen spying each movementWhat do we do to use them in their favor, either for better or worse.

With the data set out above, we can affirm that people violate their identity, many times without knowing it. People, when using the social network, delivers personal information, which in most cases is exposed with social intentions, but the same platform occupies them for advertising purposes. What I want to get with this, is that we understand what we are getting once we create the Facebook profile, we are totally vulnerable if we do not know how to use the platform, so it is important that we know how to take care of our personal information,I hope to filter our photos and publications to see only our friends and not a third party that can harm us.

Another vulnerability that this social network has is the manipulation of public information, more than one of us has encountered some false news or better known as "fake news", they notice much more frequently these days thanks to the lifestylethat we have been carrying out the confinement. These are defined as a pseudoperiodistic content that the only thing that seeks is misinformation, to seek some political benefit (influencing public opinion through a particular situation) or economic (publicizing some remedy to cure some disease) from slanderor charms to get the attention of the general public

The sole responsible for acquiring and accepting this information is the reader, knowing who is sharing this news and seeing the sources of these is the most important, ”[…] If the links indicated as a source do not work or redirect to pages that do notThey are related to what is referred to, the article is already suspicious and should not be shared ”(ifj.org). Doing a small investigation also helps a lot, looking for the images that put in the news can be useful to identify that it is really and thus be able to deny it in their own way, without forgetting the other people who also saw it, sharing the true intention thatThis one had.

Speaking a little about the time we invest in reviewing social networks, a Google study says that the human being sees them on average about 220 times per day, it seems something exaggerated, but it is the reality in which we live today today. A study by the University of Michigan indicates that the person feels worse the longer it remains connected to Facebook. Mark Zuckerberg himself acknowledged that sometimes the content that circulates through social networks does not necessarily make the user happy."The consumer bubbles that are generated around each person who uses Facebook end up joining only those who think similar to us and move us away from those who think differently. They make us more intolerant at the time of discussion ”(TN).

Some personal proposal is to move away from social networks, I know that I am talking only about Facebook, but it is also necessary to mention them all in general, they do not do well in excess and we do not always know, how many times we have not given ourselvesI realize that when we are in a meeting with friends, most of the time we are glued in our cell phones seeing the last novelties that in most cases are totally absurd and without major importance, just with a week you could realize the trueThings that happen around you, escaping for a moment of that little world that in the end all it does is locking ourselves in a totally fictional universe where those who reign are the ones who have the most “likes”.

Already showing that Facebook and social networks are not always an advantage, I will give some advice for people who want to get involved in these, try to read security policies and use policies well, so that they are really aware of how informationthat you provide to these is used. On the other hand, we must take the time of how we occupy Facebook when we are inside, how long we invest to be in the day to day and the information that can provide us, whether true or the other that only tries to misinform people toget something to benefit. And if you do not care about data management for political or advertising benefits and bad practices with public information, contemplate this writing merely as an informative.
