Response to Question 1
Philosophers spend a great deal of time to explain why things happen the way they do. The two world wars marveled the world because they happened in magnitudes never witnessed previously. Western philosophers influenced the course of the Second World War immensely. From the beginning, the philosophy of Satanism was the major political explanation for wars. The philosophy held that a state had the right to make people act against their judgments in the hope of achieving a greater good. In this sense, the greater good was seen in the protection of a race (Nazism) as well as protection of a nation (fascism) (Zaretsky, 2014).
The Nazis in Germany believed that their race was superior to other races in the world (Trueman, 2015). Consequently, the Nazis were entitled to wipe out other races to protect their position in the world for centuries to come. The successful conquest of other nations would enable the Nazis to sustain themselves and expand their territory (Trueman, 2015). Consequently, Adolf Hitler took on the task of steering the philosophy to fruition. He would stare at nothing on his way to victory even when the odds were highly against him (Trueman, 2015).
World War I had devastating economic impacts on nations. Germany and Italy were the hardest hit nations during the war. Consequently, Benito Mussolini of Italy formed a Fascist army that successfully overthrew the government and rose to power (Zaretsky, 2014).

Hitler of Germany also rallied support for the Nazi Party leading to his rise to power. The two fascist regimes built momentum for the Second World War because they could not shoulder responsibility for the previous war. At the core of their campaigns was the promotion of racism and xenophobia (Zaretsky, 2014).
Response to Question 2
Communism spread after the Second World War due to a number of factors. To begin with, the Soviet army had itched camp in many East European countries. Accordingly, the Soviet had a greater advantage in political settlements in these countries. Stalin of Soviet was quite a schemer because he had drawn a plan on how best to handle East European countries even before the Second World War ended. For example, the Soviet troops occupied European countries armed with repressive ideologies. Political commissars, propagandists, and secret police accompanied the Soviet troops in readiness for establishing domination when the right time came (Dubinsky, 2012).
Dubinsky further argues that communism succeeded in countries with weak or struggling economies. According to him, the Second World War damaged economies of most European countries and shook the global economy as well. Stalin and his communist parties promised these economies an amazing overhaul so that they could get back to their feet faster than anticipated. The parties did succeed in Europe thereby cementing communism as an ideology to watch. In fact, the Marshall Plan of the United States emerged as a countermeasure against communism at least in the United States whose economy also suffered a beating during the war (Dubinsky, 2012).
The notion of a superpower emerged to refer to a country in a dominant position capable of exercising power globally. Usually, the combination of technology, military, economic success, and cultural might lead to a superpower position. The United States was declared a world superpower because her entry into the war ended it faster than anticipated. Essentially, the US had technological, financial, and military might that was crucial to the success of the war especially after she threw her resources behind the Allied powers (Bremmer, 2015). The Cold War was an attempt by Soviet to claim the superpower position, which move placed her in strong opposition to the US. The war between capitalism and communism would prove who the real superpower between the two countries. Luckily, the US emerged victorious in the long-run.
