Mostly, the results of a process have less significant compared to the real procedures that were utilized to arrive at the said results. In particular, individuals suffered or will suffer from mental illness. However, millions of these individuals don’t get the necessary help they need just because of lack of access to a developed and quality care. For many decades, almost every part of the world used a biomedical model of medicine (BMM), where this model only focused on physical process and completely ignoring the other social factors together with the individual subjectivity. However, due to the introduction of new technologies and innovations in nursing that is primarily focused on a better healing procedure, there is an emergence of psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP). In this model, there are advanced ways of dealing with mental health services in individual’s lifespan. This paper gives a comprehensive comment on the role of PMHNP in the current day and also includes a design role for a specific patient.
As opposed to a biomedical model of medicine which had only one way of treating individuals with mental problems that are focusing on symptoms cures where the concentration was just on physical condition and by accessing various conditions the patient were administered with medicine. Psychiatric nurse practitioner gives a more comprehensive method to deal with mental problems.

The PMHNP method gives roles like diagnosis, excellent therapies, and medication of persons with mental health problems. The model also gives chances like prevention of disease, family education, and consultation. This is more helpful in current days since it helps patients with anxiety, depression and suicidal individuals among other conditions that can be cut down through counseling.
In the recent years, the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner provides a treatment approach to offer the solution to mental health services to a community. It also plays another important role in identifying behavioral and mental health service disparities that are associated with a change in health care process and the community partners. As a result of this collaborative effort, health care services are crossly brought to many individuals.
Let’s take an example of a patient who suffers from mental health problem and needs quick attention to his/her situation. The PMHNP develops the framework for nursing care that is dynamic and not static. The aim of this framework is delivery of quality care for a client. The basic and first step is assessment; here the nurse practitioner uses skills to collect data about the patient’s situation. The diagnosis then follows where the data that was previously acquired is now analyzed. Potential and diagnoses problem statements are prioritized and formulated. The expected outcomes from the diagnosis are now identified and must be estimated and measurable. After this, there is planning and implementation stage, where evidence interventions for achieving the outcome are selected and executed. In this stage there may be medication is given.
The last and most important part of healing our patient is the advanced practice nursing intervention. Here psychotherapy, consultation, and evaluations are important. The psychotherapy is done using the evidence-based in a patient framework. Lastly, the evaluation measures the exact progress to attain the expected results.
This model has given our patient both physical and social healing since the patient now gets a clear view of his/ her environment than before. This also helps the patient to understand that he/she is not disadvantaged by the society but to understand that a mental problem is a disease like others.
