Power has been defined in different ways

So far, power has been defined in different ways. However, each meaning has its own target or intentions to a certain group of people. For instance, it is referred to as the capacity to direct people or administer some form of influence that guides individuals towards certain objectives. It can also be referred to as physical fortitude that comes from a person or something. Any definition is valuable depending in the dimension one is taking to define it. Therefore, power is made significance due to some reasons. First, it shapes both people’s and organization’s plans; for a plan to go through, a manager must have the ability to influence people. Second, power makes policies firm; they guide individuals at each step of their lives. Without policies the world will have been ruined by some people who care only for themselves, all thanks to power. In addition, power has been proved to raise issues in a wider area perspective. For instance, in science, self-performance and even in modern market where people are really fighting to survive and change. However, power has no limit; it is everywhere in the world and in all circumstances. Therefore, aspects that show power are said to be omnipresent and changing; as far as people need to live, they also need power within them.
There are a lot to say when relating power to medieval times as supposed to the modern era. In medieval times, power had concentrated in only on one dimension. The Romans who were in leadership at the time would act and guide people the way they want.

They had all the strength and capacity over the slaves; they acted as if they owned the slaves and hence there were no room of resisting. Once a policy has been formed, slaves would follow without questioning. The ones who tried to question were killed and thrown in the forest. In the modern era, power is evenly distributed among people; each and every individual has rights and strength to oppose every action that does not favor the entire community.
However, all people wanted to be in leadership as it gave a chance to mistreat others and carry out activities without being questioned. Therefore, individuals fought at all times with the aim of becoming the leader. Power was misused and used for people’s interests rather than the community. In the modern society people are learned and have gotten the real meaning of power. Therefore, everything has changed and helped the society to live in peace. People need to be addressed carefully; applying force whenever one wants something to be done is a waste of time as most individuals are already set to oppose.
In the modern society, power is seen as a tool of change. Rather than using power to make people feel less vulnerable and useless at the same time, individuals use power to make the society feel at ease and also allow people have a sense of belonging. In the same way, people are adapting to self-respect to themselves and to the authority. States and some countries that still use power to mistreat citizen means they are yet living in medieval times. Moreover, the progress of such countries and states is at stake compared to others. Therefore, let all individuals whether in politics, business or any other place use their power for the welfare of the society.
