Property Crime- Motor vehicle theft
The crime reported by The Kansas City Star, as well as other media outlets in Kansas, was a motor vehicle theft incident. It involved the carjacking of a pizza delivery car in Oak Grove which resulted in a high-speed chase that ended in Kansas City with an arrest of two suspects. In this 10.20 p.m. incident which happened near Southeast Park Drive, a pizza delivery vehicle was carjacked at gunpoint (Campbell, 1). The driver of the vehicle reported that he had been tracked to the delivery address by three people driving a Dodge. One of them took a gun and pointed with it at him demanding the keys of the car and any cash he had with him. Two of the alleged suspects then fled the scene of the crime in the pizza delivery vehicle and the third one drove the Dodge. A police sergeant from Grain Valley spotted the pizza vehicle headed west on Interstate at a high speed. Police attached to Blue Springs then pursued the vehicle into Kansas City where it was stopped and the two suspects arrested.
This incident can, therefore, be classified as a motor vehicle theft form of property crime. By pointing a gun at the driver, the carjackers threatened to use force to unlawfully get the car. Moreover, they also demanded the keys to the vehicle and any money that the driver could be carrying indicating that they had the intent to make off with the vehicle and any other valuables they could get. Thus the incident is regarded as a motor vehicle theft case.

Conclusively, it is also important to note that even though motor vehicle theft rate has reduced in the last few years, observers in the automobile industry caution that motor vehicle thieves regularly come up with new and refined ways of stealing them. They have utilized tactics such as obtaining smart keys, swapping vehicle identification details, and using stolen personalities to acquire loans for exclusive vehicles.
