Many cities happen to be locations for of cultural and social diversity, assorted businesses, leisure, and conviviality. However, the diversities are not equal. This depends on the state the city is, the locality, governmental policies and even demographics. Further, how best one finds pleasure in the towns depends on factors like wealth, personality, attitude and perceptions. The nature of the encounter between the dwellers and visitors further determines if one was satisfied enough ever to get back. This paper studies three cities to examine how different features, resources, and qualities of cities enhance or limit opportunities.
Traveling in a bus in the UK establishes scenes for creating relations, observing the environment, adopting codes of conduct and appreciating different cultural habits. According to Wilson, one is engaged in all sorts of conversations and encounters. It is one’s personality that determines if they enjoy a ride or not. Assuming an aggressive approach will only cause commotion between oneself and other passengers. As a result, one is forced to develop tolerance. I agree with the author that the bus rides links individuals between different ethnic origins and character. However, there are times that private practices may override the public concerns like one’s attitudes, tribe or opinions in certain topics of discussion. The people’s reaction to such determines whether an individual would travel on the same bus again. Besides the poor content of subjugation, class conflicts, public embarrassments, and cultural sentiments, one learns the basic essence of politeness, respect, and public relations.

Brazil is a state where race, gender, and class have been neutralized. According to Oliveira, segregation on race has been rampant in America where people disregard the significance of cultural values and race differences. While trying to differentiate class from race, Oliveira compares the favelas and ghettos of Brazil. Where a ghetto refers to makeshift areas populated the poor especially blacks and Latinos, favelas encompasses racial heterogeneity although occupied by the similar socioeconomic class of people. The definitions have more weight on race than class. I agree with the author that race and class in America are parallel even though zoning is the primary cause of the rift. The fact that more blacks and Latinos inhabit Brazil is one reason why racism no longer exists. However, the reason the country is poor is because the federal government has isolated it. Hence they lack social, political and economic empowerment.
According to Crenshaw, intersectionality, identity politics and violence against woman have been an issue of concern for many countries. However, women have currently defied intimidations, drawing their support from the public support. I agree to Crenshaw that politics are still run on gender, race and other identities such as affluence. The movements for feminists seeking to politicize their political endeavors and those of antiracists share mutual experiences. While the women may feel more intimidated than the later, it is worth identifying sex and race as an intersection of common goals, liberation. Women experience intersectional adversities like battering, rape, and violence just like the antiracists and people of color. Although this may be a misconception by Crenshaw, it is true that the rate of change in the two issues is congruent. The women share the same rights as the people of color but only in politics and leadership for the white women.
