Criminal Law Research Topic: Prison Informants
For this assignment the criminal law topic that is up for discussion is the matter of Jailhouse informants. Jailhouse informants are people who act as witnesses from the prisons. The information that they provide is mostly based on the fact that their jail mates told them of how they committed a crime. This topic is interesting as it can be tackled from three areas that are in line with the purpose of the class. These are procedure and evidence looking at the reliability of such witnesses. Punishments, this will focus on the rewards given to jail informants and the punishment they get in the prison systems once found out. It is also the choice topic as it covers a rather unexplored area of evidence and witness protection.
The topic area will also feature some of the laws put in place to protect informants and how their stories are verified. Intent and conspiracy, for this it also focuses on reliability of their word and the role of prison wardens in enticing snitches to tell on their fellow criminals. It will also look into the reasons why seasoned criminals will confide in their jail mates. Purgery as a criminal offense will also be looked at and the consequences that it has on an inmate already facing jail time. For the topic area an in depth look into the convictions made as a result of jail informants will be researched on as well CITATION Sno17 l 1033 (Haughey, 2017).

Wait! Research Paper Topic paper is just an example!

It has been a common place for jail informants to lie through their teeth. Mostly they are driven by the promise of reduced sentences and better treatment while in prison. Although it is hard to verify their statements, jurors eat their words up. This mostly leads to convictions and tighter sentences. Because of such loopholes many detectives have created ways to tell a lie apart from the truth. These include extensive cross examinations. References
