Nicole’s discussion board analyzed an article which explained the relationship between the lacks of sleep and increased risk for a cold. This was a recent experiment used that used a controlled sample of 164 healthy individuals who were then exposed to cold after measuring rhinovirus levels. He identified treatments used in the experiment as cold infections and sleep study. Also, this study used individuals with sleep patterns and the probability of the participants getting sick as the independent and dependent variables respectively. Also, Nicole identified the dependant and independent variables. Finally, Nicole managed to analyze and summarize the results as well as providing useful conclusions that those who slept for more hours were more likely to get ill is compared to those who slept for few hours. Thus, lack of sleep increases the chances of cold.

Joel’s work was excellent even though he missed some points in his analysis and choice of the article. The article analyzed was testing the relationship between selected clinical trials and adjunctive. Joel lacked an idea of how the sample was selected and thus, he made an assumption. However, he identifies the sample size and the time when the study was done. This sample was too small as compared to the one in the other experiment by Nichole. The issuance of three types of drugs was used as the different treatments. These included Niacin, Fabric acid derivative, and Ezetimibe.

Further, Joel failed to identify the dependent and independent variables in the article that he analyzed. The result of this experiment showed a direct relationship between the mentioned medications and risk of cardiovascular diseases. Joel also managed to identify the purpose of the study.
