My point of view is that the role of a nurse in the therapeutic nurse-client relationship is important and cannot be ignored. The importance is attributable to the fact that therapeutic services are delicate medical services that determine the lives of individuals. The services may lead to early death of individuals if poorly undertaken or additional health complications (Antai-Otong, 2007). Hence, they should be executed by professionals who are well-trained, know what they are doing, professionals who can relate well with patients and understand their needs. The services must also be delivered in adherence to quality standards and best medical practice that nurses are known to offer. Quality therapeutic services are also offered when there is an effective nurse-patient relationship. The need for adherence to the quality standards and the realization of effective nurse-patient relationship that is integral in the management of therapeutic patients explains the important role of nurses.
Why the point of view
The point of view that nurses play a critical role in the therapeutic nurse-client relationship and that they should be involved in the process is based on diverse reasons. The first reason is that nurses are well-trained to handle such medical cases, and they understand what they are doing including what patients need to recover. Nurses are also endowed with medical best practices, ethics, and integrity that facilitate confidential handling of patient information that is central to a nurse-patient relationship (Antai-Otong, 2007).

Similarly, nurses have the requisite professional nursing knowledge, relevant attitude and skills that are necessary for the maintenance of clients well-being and health. Nurses also create a favorable environment that promotes trust and respect in the client-nurse relationship arrangement. Therefore, I hold the view that nurses contribute effectively in offering therapeutic services to patients due to their professionalism. They have proven record of accomplishment on therapeutic patient management and effective client-patient relationship in diverse settings.

Nursing is about giving specialized care to patients to improve their health standards and wellbeing. It entails systematic monitoring of patient recovery process, treatment and administration of diagnosis. This role directly relates to the delivery of therapeutic services to patients and creation of a viable client-patient relationship based on respect.

This point of view is important since it helps in affirming the importance of nurses in a patient-nurse relationship especially for those who under therapeutic care. It will enable various stakeholders including policy makers to recognize the important role nurses play in the management of health and wellbeing of those suffering from chronic diseases such as cancer that are managed through therapeutic care (Antai-Otong, 2007). It will also influence decision making on the professionals contracted to offer health care services to clients.

The knowledgeable individuals should be the ones delivering the services given that therapeutic services determine individual’s wellbeing and if done poorly may lead to death. Every client or patient prefers attaining therapeutic services from trusted individuals who are well knowledgeable on medical matters including nursing care. Their preferences are informed by the fear of unknown especially when untrained people attend to them. They doubt the relevance and effectiveness of such individuals.
The point of view connects to nursing given that nursing is the process of offering medical care to patients with the aim of enhancing their well-being. This is similar to the nurse-patient relationship regarding the provision of therapeutic services that revolves around nursing the pain individuals suffer.
In conclusion, it is prudent and highly advisable for nations and individuals to embrace nurse-client relationships. The relationships assist in ensuring effective management of patient’s health issues. It promotes quality sharing of information between patients and nurses about the underlying problem that in turn promotes the timely formulation of an amicable solution. The nurse-client relationship also enables nurses to understand client issues and needs hence facilitate the provision of cost effective services. Likewise, understanding of patient needs allows them to receive best dietary advice especially on the type of foods they should take, activities they should engage in and the need to exercise.
