Political Donors from Knoxville for the 2016 Election Cycle
The donors for the 2016 election cycle in Knoxville city contributed to both local competitive legislative race and other elective posts within and outside the State of Tennessee. They financed various candidates, parties and other groups in and outside the State. One of the recipients is the State Rep. Consequently, this affirms that the Republican Party was the primary beneficiary of money raised from Knoxville City.
Individual donors contributed $3,006,615 to groups located outside the State of Tennessee where Knoxville city is situated. The donations aimed at placing ads and indulging in activities that will influence elections and public policy despite not being affiliated with any candidate or political party. On the same note, some of the donors gave contributions to candidates outside their State so as to protect their vested interests in the activities that are run in those particular regions.
Some of the donations made towards different recipients seemed to be unusual from my perspective view. Certain donors spent millions of dollars so as to influence legislation and get friendly candidates into office. Therefore, I view that the aim of the contributors was to ensure their candidate wins so as to protect their business and industrial empire from their political enemies. Similarly, some of the other unusual donations were made with the aim of ejecting political antagonists out of office so as their selected members can take control of the different operations that are run by the Knoxville City and the entire State of Tennessee.
In conclusion, the political leanings of Knoxville city tends to favor the Republican Party since it is composed of many conservatives as compared to the population of Democrats. Therefore, the donors in the city incline to contribute more to Republican candidates in the various elective positions in the city and other candidates in different States. Similarly, some donors in Knoxville support particular candidates through unusual donations so that they can protect their political and economic interests within the borders of the city.
