How will you engage Marie and Peter even though Dan is not ready to participate?
Dealing with family members puts into view the aspect of respect. As a social worker, it is my responsibility to ensure that the clients’ views are understood and respected. Marie explains that inasmuch as Dan expects the house to be clean regularly, most of the days she feels like not getting out of the bed and only wants to sleep. I would acknowledge the fact that she requires rest as rest is important. I would then question the type of communication that she has with Dan for Dan not to understand her need for rest. I would engage Peter by questioning him on the subjects that he performs well and why he gets lower grades on the others as a way of illustrating that I understand him.
Explain the non-constructive behaviors of Dan, Marie, and Peter that contribute to the family’s dysfunction.
Non-constructive behaviors entail people not being at their best during a conflict which makes it difficult to reason with them or reach a level of understanding. This is associated with family dysfunction especially in a situation where one or both parents have compulsions and when the children feel that their needs are not met; both basic and emotional needs (Chen et.al, 2017). The non-constructive behavior exhibited by Dan is accusing his family of his drug problem and walking out of the session. Marie’s non-constructive behavior is putting the blame on victor while Peter’s problem is looking down on himself with the view that no one guides him on his school work.

Identify the appropriate interventions for family recovery.
An intervention that applies to the situation is family therapy. The therapy entails the family members opening up in front of a facilitator, the therapist, who asks questions that he or she perceives will be helpful for the family members. The idea is to enable each member to empathize with what another person is feeling and then coming up with a solution that improves the relationship between them (Conoley et.al, 2017). Also, due to Dan’s drug problem, there is the need for a treatment plan that involves rehabilitation and counseling for him to stop using the habit as a scapegoat with respect to his family issues.
