Jealousy can be observed from different perspectives.

Within thought or evolutionary vision there is a differentiation in jealousy depending on the genre, according to which they are understood as a mechanism to guarantee the reproduction and propagation of genes. For men it is a fear that the woman has offspring with another man, since in that case the male will not know how to differentiate between her children and those of the other couple. So they develop a fear greater in sexual infidelity; While for women it is a panic to the abandonment of the family that endangers the survival of the offspring, adopting greater jealousy in the face of emotional infidelity.

Another perspective is that formed by sociocultural theories, which argue that the behavior differences that men and women can be explained by the different way of socializing that patriarchal societies give each sex. Defending that they occur due to social structures and processes that create and maintain them, instead of occurring by evolutionary influences.
