Simone de Beauvoir’s life and work

Introduction.

Simone de Beauvoir, the writer, teacher and militant feminist who achieved her worldwide fame after publishing Le Deuxième Sixe in 1949. This French writer was born in a bourgeois family in Paris in January 1908. Since childhood it was introduced in the field of literature and writing. At 16 he was determined to devote himself to education. A few years later she began her studies to be a teacher.

In 1926 he joined the Socialist Movement and also began to attend courses related not only to literature, but also with philosophy. A few years later after getting the title in letters, he meets Sartre his future sentimental companion even though he never married. For many years he was acting as a teacher until in 1943 he decides to abandon him and begins to devote himself to full -time writing.

Developing.

His most significant work is lempixème sexe, published in 1949. He began writing this book when he realized that there was great inequality between men and women. In the proposed interview for this comment Simone de Beauvoir explains that she was a lucky woman, since in the intellectual world she had never felt this inequality.

Begins by recouring that one is a woman, not from birth, but after the experiences of their own lived by each of them. The title of Le Deuxiéme Més refers to the fact that women have always been in the background. In the interview this idea reaffirms by explaining that since the Middle Ages men have taken positions in interesting positions and in medicine.

Wait! Simone De Beauvoir’S Life And Work paper is just an example!

Simone de Beauvoir did not start writing this book as a role of militancy; She at first she intended only to capture the reality of women. This writer realized the dependence of women to men. This is because women generally exercised domestic work and that men dedicated themselves to paid jobs. Therefore women were economically dependent and in case of divorce they would be the most harmed, since they would not have economic resources to be able to keep themselves and their children in the event that they had them.

The purpose of Simone de Beauvoir was on the one hand that men were aware of that reality, but, on the other hand that women themselves understand this problem. Another problem that this writer related is that many women were ignored by other resigned women. In America this book was great, since in the United States as an example, more than 750 thousand copies were sold. On the other hand in France it was not well received, since many men criticized their work.

Simone de Beauvoir explains in a simple way why he is feminist. Being a woman associated with the left, she is surrounded by leftist personalities, including many men. At that time he is aware that this secondary role of women is not given by ideology but by a privileged position of men.

That is, left -wing men shared thoughts like them, but by possessing privileges that women did not possess, they had no interest in mobilizing for the cause. As he explains in the interview, in no socialist or communist country, he puts himself in front of women, or they are considered as equal, but as women.

conclusion.

Therefore he understands that this movement has to be directed by women and for women. Simone de Beauvoir states that the moral independence of women has to be linked to economic independence, since this problem comes to the woman, for the fear of feeling abandoned and without resources when she is dependent on her husband.

This writer, before being interviewed in the “Questionnaire” program, had never felt the need to appear on television. He decided to appear for the first time to continue his feminist struggle, to explain why he is and to raise awareSexism.
