Social networking plays an important role in improving the process of job search. It does so by bridging the gap between employers and employees. A lot of employers and recruitment agencies advertise their jobs through social networking sites. Over the years, recruiting process for many companies has changed from analog as they now use social media for new talent attraction. Social media gives an opportunity for companies to aim for specific qualification, respond effectively to candidates as well as application evaluation. Jobsite conducted a survey that shows 73 percent of job recruiters use social media.
Online platforms present an easier way for candidates searching for jobs to perfectly advertise their potential and skills. The candidates need first to identify an ideal employer(S) who they are interested in working for (Salpeter 44). One can then post his or her resume to market their skills. Such online platforms include; indeed, LinkedIn, monster and niche websites among others.
It is worth noting that social agency or media has had a positive impact on candidates searching for jobs. First, the candidates’ professional credentials become readily available on the websites for recruiters or employers to see. Secondly, networking sites give post searching individuals an opportunity of setting out their experience in a more logical manner (Bruggerman 62). Last but not least, research by eMarketer firm also shows that social networking sites have a likelihood of hooking candidates up with recruiters; this ensures visibility in the job search market.
