President Obama boosted the healthcare sector by signing the Affordable Care Act in the year 2010 to enable the citizens of the United States to have access to better health care. This after majority complained that the structure of the health department in the U.S wasn’t serving the people well, especially those who have low income. The key feature s of the act was to protect the consumers, ensure the care service is of good quality and manage the costs of care to ensure that they remain affordable ( Koh & Sebelius, 2010).
The transformation provided in the affordable care act was to protect the consumers from being abused by the insurance companies. Those subscribing for Medicare can get major treatment for free. The need to improve the care value will see the nurses and doctors work closely. The law provides that in October 2013 there will be open enrollment to give everybody a chance to get an insurance cover.
The main elements of the affordable care Act are to ensure there is accessible health care through the provision of Medicaid by the government. Boosting the quality and value of care given by physicians at different places at the time reducing the cost of care to make it affordable to everybody. Protecting the citizens and health insurance cover buyers from exploitation and mistreatment by the insurance companies(Reeve, & Institute of Medicine, 2014).
Nurses are the specific individuals who will be involved in the implementation of this new Healthcare Act.
