Entertainment is important in people’s lives. It helps deal with stress and makes someone enjoy life. The producers of television show the need to keep coming up with ideas that are relevant to the audience and entertaining at the same time. Reality television shows have become very popular in the recent past. Shows that offer challenges for the contestants have managed to cut a niche for themselves in the entertainment industry as many people enjoy watching them. ‘Survivor,’ ‘Big Brother,’ and ‘The Amazing Race’ among others are the popular reality television shows of the day. ‘Survivor’ and ‘The Amazing Race,’ however, are in their league and have managed to continue being relevant despite airing for many years. These shows offer prizes to the winners of the different challenges the contestants have to go through. In both, the winners have to fight all odds brought their way and beat the other contestants to get the ultimate prize.

The Amazing Race or Survivor
‘Survivor’ and ‘The Amazing Race’ are among the shows that have consistently provided entertainment to the lovers of adrenaline pumping challenges that the two shows deal with. These shows are similar in many ways. However, ‘The Amazing Race’ stands out as the better show because it offers better benefits to its contestants, it entertains more, and it has important lessons for the audience.

Many people would love to audition for ‘The Amazing Race’ because of the benefits that the contestants get. For example, the living standards of the contestants in the show are better than those of the contestants in ‘Survivor’ are. In the latter, the contestants are put through nasty conditions dealing with mosquitoes and other dangerous creatures. On the other hand, the contestants in ‘The Amazing Race’ get to travel the world and sleep in the best hotels worldwide (Strutner, 2014). Therefore, whereas the contestants in ‘The Amazing Race’ get to enjoy some of the things people dream of, the contestants in ‘Survivor’ risk their lives.
‘The Amazing Race’ is spontaneous and keeps the audience glued to their televisions waiting to see the next mission and country that the contestants will go to. ‘Survivor’ tends to bore the audience because the contestants remain in a particular location for so long which is usually a remote place, which even lacks toilet facilities (Dehnart, 2015). The lack of monotony in ‘The Amazing Race,’ makes it very entertaining.
‘The Amazing Race’ is better than ‘Survivor’ is because it teaches the audience an important lesson. To win, one has to work with a teammate in the former, and the winners share the prize. The audience needs show that have a lesson, and its lesson is that others are important in the journey to success. ‘Survivor’ lacks such important lessons for its audience.
As shown, upon close examination, ‘The Amazing Race’ is better than ‘Survivor’ is because it has more to offer to the contestants regarding benefits, it entertains the audience more, and is packed with important life lessons for the audience.
