On a daily basis, individuals or groups exchange ideas between themselves during numerous interactions. The interactions could be during a classroom discussion, on social platforms, in a business meeting among others. During such interactions, it is essential that individuals get an opportunity to express themselves. In other words, an individual should freely express out his or her ideas and at the same time seek to allow others to express themselves too. Acknowledging other people’s thoughts does not mean you agree with what they say or have to say but that their opinions just like yours are logical, viable and even actionable. In light of the above information, this paper seeks to discuss the importance of expressing one’s ideas and also acknowledging other people’s opinions.
Expression of one’s idea not only is a right but also help us experience great benefits provided that the expression of the opinion is in the right way. First, the expression of one’s opinion helps in better self-understanding. In this regard, expressing aloud what you think charges one with an additional responsibility of defending the idea from other people’s points of views. In the process, you go deep into your mind and as a result, understand yourself better. Additionally, expressing yourself helps you become more confident and learn how to interact with others. Moreover, it offers a chance to learn and broaden your mind.
Acknowledging other people’s original ideas is equally important due to the following reasons.

First, nobody has a monopoly of brilliant ideas. People’s ideas could be useful as nobody holds all the ideas. Everyone can offer valuable views. Secondly, other people’s opinions may be better than yours. Listening to and accepting other people’s views helps in the creation of new opportunities and solving problems more effectively and faster. Moreover, acknowledging other people’s ideas helps in avoiding conflicts and also help others grow.
Conclusively, it is apparent that expressing one’s opinions is important but of much importance is acknowledging the ideas of others. Apart from helping us better understand ourselves, the expression of our ideas also helps us become more confident and learn new things.
