The following research work aims to analyze the United States after the end of World War I, specifically during the period called “The Happy 20s”, in turn it is intended to analyze the actions taken by the United States to growAs a world power during those years, that is why the following question arises. To what extent the United States managed to settle as a world power after ending the First World War during the Happy 20s?

The book "Universal History. From the era of revolutions to the globalized world ”is a source of secondary origin of the author Gloria M Delgado de Cantú, who is a quite recognized historian for her works about the history of Latin America. The purpose of the source is to offer an overview about the most important thing that occurred from prehistory to the different industrial revolutions of the twentieth century.

As a value, it can be highlighted from the source that the historian collects detailed and very punctual information about the different most relevant events in the history of humanity, in addition, it establishes in an orderly and detailed way the topics discussed in the source, which is veryrelevant to understanding the historical event. Similarly, the historian’s experience favors the ideas extracted and analyzed in the text can be reliable and very objective. Also, it uses primary and secondary sources, so it can be denoted that the author had great will to prepare the source.

As a limitation, it is considered that there is no field investigation, since the source is based on the analysis of sources left by other historians, therefore these sources may be biased.

The source "Causes and Effects of 20th Century Wars (2015)" is a source of secondary origin belonging to the authors Keely Rogers, who has a degree and a master’s degree in History, and Jo Thomas collaborator in the texts of the IB. The purpose of the source is to thoroughly study the causes and consequences about the different wars that occurred in the twentieth century. In addition, the authors use photographic material that complement and provide a better understanding about research.

As a value, the authors clearly and detailed the causes and consequences of the war, in addition, they provide very relevant information accompanied by very good images that support a better understanding of the subject.

As a limitation, the source is of secondary origin and is based on an analysis of works made by other historians. Also, by exposing different wars the author usually addresses more to a specific side which makes me understand that in these aspects there is a type of political bias.

Research

Background

Although the participation of the United States in World War I was late, this country was essential in the sale of weapons to the countries that were facing the war conflict. However, that was not the only livelihood that led to the United States to take possession as a power, the consequences of World War I left chaos in Europe since this was the scenario of the contest, the destruction of European countries displays the economy the economyWorld and Japan World.

After ending the First World War "the winning European powers – France and Great Britain – seemed unable to overcome political and economic difficulties, or the social and material changes that the war had left as a sequel" (Cantú, 2010, p. 260) United States played a fundamental role in the arrangement of Europe, that is, it was a creditor and established financial aid for the reconstruction of most European countries, which were at the time in full ruin.

Unlike European countries United States, I do not suffer any economic, political or territorial damage within this war conflict, this was the reason why “from 1919 international relations would no longer have their center in Europe, and theEconomy moved mainly towards the new power that emerged in North America ”

The export of goods to European countries caused the growth of the US industry to increase exponentially attracting more investors with the promise to obtain short -term profits. The great technological advance allowed a series of innovations that improved the daily life of the citizens of the United States. The new industries were "dedicated to producing a huge amount of novel articles of durable consumption: appliances, radio receptors, cars and many others that were configuring a consumer society"  

The new lifestyle of the Americans was called "American Way of Life", whose name was given by the growth of different urban areas and the progress and social comfort that the population was having. This lifestyle spread through the other European countries, the "American way of life" "seduced Europeans, cemented in the individual consumption of goods (cars, telephones, appliances), driven by advertising and supported by aeasy credit and install sales " 

The United States not only implement a new lifestyle, but also introduced various advances in cinema, fashion, music and sports. These mass shows expanded throughout Europe and had an extraordinary reception. Programs such as Mickey Mouse, Mute Cine.

The economy gave way to many people to live a lifestyle much superior to their personal income. The bonds and loans of the bank were very common, there were great freedoms and possibilities for enrichment to all people, this led to many peasants, entrepreneurs and people with low resources to maintain a more accessible and human lifestyle.

The United States is isolated from the world and does not allow immigrants, rejection of the Treaty of Versailles and the racial superiority atmosphere

The United States by expanding its companies around Europe and everyone, could supply and supply the world, however, in American prosperity a kind of nationalist ideology "United States for Americans" was formed "for Americans". This ideology was key to the rejection of the treatment of Versailles and the entrance to the Nations Society. The United States Society was sentenced to failure.

On the other hand, "in the new phase of" nationalist isolationism, American society closed abroad and refused to allow people of different nationalities, while racial hatred increased "the United States closed to prevent thePeople from other countries enjoyed the same rights as the Americans, which were established as a higher race and the rational problem before African Americans emerged, whose role within society was heavy work or the peasantry.

In addition, illiterate, disabled and mostly the third age were not tolerated, this with the objective of raising a capitalist and progressive society in the National Development. Also, "when the arrival of Eastern Europeans and fugitive Russians of the Revolution increased, more energetic measures were taken to reduce immigration in fear that US residents were contaminated by socialist ideas," said otherwise, the United StatesHe opted for an industrial advance under undoubted capitalism, while Europe was in the process of social and political construction, progressive ideas such as communism and fascism were disseminated. Many people emigrated to the United States in the hope of living a new lifestyle, however, many were discriminated and obtained the worst jobs within society. The United States felt threatened with the progressive ideas that was emerging in Europe, which is why, we weakened and eliminated any political party within the country that will threaten the current political system, in other words, “the liberal governments of the 1920s founda nationalist and aggressive political resurgence "  

Similarly, in implementing an isolationism, we also try to recover and strengthen Puritanian American traditions "that led the US government to adopt some moralizing measures, such as the prohibition of alcohol or" dry law "  . This brought diverse consequences, including illegal alcohol traffic and an increase in its price due to demand, this characterized a socio -political struggle between the government and society.

In conclusion, the United States managed to establish itself as a power after World War I to the point of improving the living conditions of all US citizens, in addition, the good moment of the 20s allow North American companies to expand around the world,Similarly, investors increased as capital grew, also, a more comfortable life system was established by building a United States for Americans.

Reflection

The next research work arose from the personal interest in the study of positioning as the world power in the United States after World War I. I believe that this event is very important because it was characteristic for the rapid reconstruction of Europe and the rise of the United States as a powerful nation.

The methods that were used to carry out this investigation were the use of the comparison and the contrast of the sources that were used, this tool allowed me to order the information to choose historical sources of very high relevance to give more objectivity to the investigative work, in addition, this technique allows biases and information to be more impartial.

When carrying out this research work, I took into account the different challenges for which historians are going through at the time of historical research, among these challenges were problems such as objectivity and emotion. Historians try to have their investigations lack subjectivity and impartiality, however, historians in some cases have to establish a position and lean to a side, however, they must analyze the story and not give judgments or opinions. On the other hand, emotion is a factor that influences the way of seeing history, makes the historian feel an emotional attachment for a subject and that can generate biases.

Unlike historians, scientists can corroborate their hypotheses through a series of experiments that help them that the emotion does not put the reason before and that makes their work more effective and more impartial.

Historians follow a methodology that depends largely on the archive material left by their predecessors and I have realized that this can bring problems in the analysis of the story, in the first place because some of these records can lack reliability which it doesthat the historian undertakes to choose the archive material that from his perspective best seems. For example, in my case I had to read many sources and choose those that have had the greatest impact on the student and social field. In addition, I base different aspects such as the impartiality of historians and their professional ethics, also that it is supported in an institution would be, for such reasons my questions about this issue of my interest were resolved with great satisfaction,
