Thomas Jefferson on slavery and Race of Africans, 1781, extracted from Notes concerning the State of Virginia, is of the diary entry source. The notes were taken from Thomas Jefferson’s own diary that was afterward published in his personal book (Foner 1).
When was the source published or produced?
“The Notes on the State of Virginia book”, was written in 1781 primarily and privately published for the first time in 1784 (Foner 1).
Motive:

Thomas Jefferson created the source, purposely to give his view on the body and mind differences between whites and blacks. Nevertheless, he declares that God created both races equally (Foner 2).

The author of the notes on the state of Virginia book is Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson is an
example of individuals in the society who plays an active role as an agent of change since he gives his point of view on different races and this can, in turn, initiate an action (Foner 3).

Jefferson wrote the book to give his opinion on the African slavery and race. In regard to the text, although Jefferson was for the limited emancipation policy, he had a strong perception that freed slaves ought to relocate from Virginia, due to significant diversities between two races. Jefferson furthermore clarified whites were superior to blacks (Foner 3).

According to the book, the author documents the main point. The thesis in the notes was the inferiority suspicion of Blacks to Whites. He supports this comment by indicating that in his observations the Blacks lacked a sense of imagination and they as well had no capacity of comprehending and understanding (Foner 2).

Thomas Jefferson’s book discusses the black and white races diversities. The author believes that the blacks are inferior to whites (Foner 2). The first difference he notes is the color which he affirms is of no importance. In a comparison of reasoning, memory, and imagination, both races are equal in memory while whites outdo blacks in reasoning and imagination. Jefferson finally explains in his book that he suspect whites are superior to blacks in both mind and body because they possess non-similar qualifications (Foner 4).
