Undocumented Immigrants in United States of America
In the United States of America, the fate of the 11 million undocumented immigrants has created a great divide among the citizens and the political leaders. Some sections including the democrats are to the idea that they should be granted citizenship while those against are to the idea that they should be deported. Those for the idea of granting the undocumented immigrants American citizenship argue that it will benefit America economically. On the other hand, those against the move believe that the only method of dealing with the undocumented immigrants is deportation. The issue took center stage during the American 2016 presidential elections with both the two leading presidential candidates taking opposite stands. The democratic candidate Hillary Clinton was in the opinion of granting the undocumented immigrants American citizenship. The republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump, who is the current president is in the opinion of deportation (Janiewski 184). Therefore, by the help of the sociological theories, this paper will strive at addressing the best way of dealing with the issue of the undocumented immigrants in the United States of America.
It can be argued that the functionalism would without doubts favor granting the undocumented immigrant the American citizenship. According to the functionalism, different parts of the society always work hand in hand with the sole purpose of maintaining societal status quo together with meeting the societal social needs.

Wait! Undocumented Immigrants in United States of America paper is just an example!

Therefore, the American economy is better off with them being citizens. One important point is that America as a society and industries, in particular, has been relying on the labor of the undocumented immigrants. Therefore, granting the undocumented immigrants citizenship will provide the government with additional tax revenue. Moreover, they will also boost the country with low-cost labor pool together with the improvement in the circulation of the money among the public (Grzymala-Kazlowska 28).
It is also worth noting that the undocumented immigrants residing in America have established social groups of their own that the other social groups have depended on upon. Therefore, destabilizing this balance will nevertheless affect American society in totality. Instead, America should grant the undocumented citizenship to be in a position of enjoying the economic benefits such as the creation of new jobs each year, raising the wages, as well as the raising of the gross domestic products (Grzymala-Kazlowska 32).
The conflict theory can be used to explain those advocating for the deportation of the undocumented immigrants from the America. According to the conflict theory, individuals in the society always tend to protect and promote their self-interest. Therefore, any foreign element that can be a potential threat to the societal interest is considered a conflict. Besides, based on the conflict theory, society is motivated by the conflict, but not a corporation. Nevertheless, it is understandable that some of the Americans are receiving the undocumented immigrants with such hostilities. Some of the Americans advocating for the deportation of the undocumented immigrants claim that the undocumented immigrants are criminals because they crossed the border without the legal documents (Janiewski 184).
Therefore, it will be unfortunate to reward the criminals with both the citizenship and an opportunity of enjoying the American social services. Besides, they go further to say the undocumented immigrants are an economic and social burden to the Americans who are the taxpayers. In conclusion, I can agree with those advocating for the granting of the American citizenship to the undocumented immigrants. This is because solidarity in a society is the greatest secret of the societal prosperity. Therefore, everybody in the society is important in realizing the correct social order since interdependence and cooperation among the social groups are the key ingredients for a successful society (Grzymala-Kazlowska 32).
