The purpose of the Fair Trade Federation is strengthening and promoting organizations based in North America so that they can be fully devoted to free and fair trade. The association is a member of the international trade movement, and as such, it also purposed to establish equitable and sustainable trade partnerships as well as create trade opportunities with the aim of reducing and alleviating poverty (Nicholls 5).
What Seattle craft company supports the people of Rwanda and how does it empower women? (5 points)
Coffee Rwanda is the Seattle craft company that supports the people of Rwanda and more so empowering women. The company sells coffee and uses more than half of the earnings in supporting the pygmies who were evicted from their original homes and left starving with no one to take care of them. The company has given them shelter and a source of livelihood by providing them with jobs. For instance, it serves bean by bean, aimed at creating an alliance with the pygmies while the one-pound bags produced by the company go into supporting the wellbeing and health of this indigenous and marginalized people. Moreover, Coffee Rwanda has also played a crucial role in empowering women, and it has done so by partnering with other organizations such as Richard’s Rwanda which mainly focuses on educating the girl child.

This way, they have enrolled a good number of girls in their program of whom some have emerged out to be significant people in the society. Finally, Coffee Rwanda also offers job opportunities to women, and as such, they manage to cater for their livelihoods.

Fair trade can be defined as trade between companies in already developed countries and manufacturers in third world/developing counties whereby the producers receive fair prices for their products (Nicholls 3).
What are two common myths about fair trade and what is the reality of each myth? (5 points)
The first myth about fair trade is that it entails the developing countries paying wages similar to those paid in the already developed countries. However, this is not the case since compensation is calculated based on the actual production cost but not based on the wages in the developed world.
The other myth is that fair trade discourages globalization. This is also not the reality since fair trade focuses on the positive impact of globalization that than concentrating on its negative impacts. If at all it does not support globalization then the developing countries or for that matter any other given country, would receive less than what they deserve for their exports. However, fair trade ensures that this does not happen and every country or organization receives what is right and actual for their products.

The fair trade sector that grew by 112% in 2008 was the certified tea sector sales. The sector that grew by 94% was the cotton product sales while finally, the sector that grew by 14% was the coffee sales sector.
