Overweight or obesity has been a major problem among many people in different countries. There are several ways that have been proposed to be used to control the disease. In rare cases the clinicians prescribe exercise as one of the ways to be used to control the overweight. Exercise is one of the ways that can be used to burn the calories in the body that result in the overweight. When the calories in the body are burnt, the energy of the body or the individual increases since the fats in the body is broken down to produce the energy (Soni, Bhatnagar And Sankhla 146). There is also an increase in the blood flow in the body parts such as the brain and the heart. The increased blood flow is brought about by the increase in the muscles sizes thereby carrying a large volume of blood to the heart and other body organs. There are several ways to conduct exercises, and these ways help to reduce the body weight at specific body parts.
The application of the decision support system or technology is the use of the use of the technology to give guidance to an overweight patient to lose weight through the use of the use of exercise. The use of the DSS gives guidance on the specific type of exercise that the patient needs to do and the extent to which that specific exercise need to be done. When using the DSS however, there are several factors that are put into consideration (Soni, Bhatnagar and Sankhla 147). These factors include the nutritional profile of the patient such as the meal that the patient takes on a daily basis.

Wait! weight loss through exercise paper is just an example!

The other factor that is considered is the anthropometric measurements. These measurements include the BMI of the patient, the height and weight of the patient, the hip and waist circumference, the body composition such as water, fat and the free body mass. The other tests that are put into consideration are the length of time the patient can take when doing some exercise methods such as step up that is also used to check the rate of heartbeat, press up for checking the strength of the muscles and also “sit and reach” to test the flexibility of the patient. All these tests are carried out to identify the changes that can be experienced once the DSS practice is done after a given period.
The example of the decision support that has been tried included the use of twenty-six individuals. These individuals were divided into two groups of fourteen and twelve respectively. The fourteen were used to experiment using the DSS in exercise while the twelve were used as a control experiment. The fourteen were instructed as per the DSS and the diets that they were to feed on which were equal and similar as per the DSS (Soni, Bhatnagar And Sankhla 147). They were given the directives on the exercise to do on a daily basis for a month, and the result was to be confirmed on the decision to make whether to use the exercise or not.
The decision support system is highly needed in the weight loss through the use of exercise since it gives the patient the directive on the type of exercise to do at a particular time. The patient is also restricted to specific meals when trying to do these exercises. Therefore it gives the patient the procedure and directives as well as alerting the patients on when to do the exercises.
