Research refers to scientific ways of devising new knowledge that is meant to inform action. For example, in health care, it results to the commonly known evidence-based practiced (The Office of Research Integrity, 2018). Thereby, from its definition, the importance of research is deduced, because it brings about improvement in doing things. Research is important to healthcare, because it helps to discover the treatment options that are most effective at the time of doing the research, either by discovering new treatments or reviewing the ones existing to show the best possible one (The Pennine Acute Hospitals, 2018). The quest for the provision of high-quality care is pegged on research. Thereby, research is a fundamental process in healthcare to help gain knowledge that is transferred to practice for the purpose of improvement.
A research article begins with an introduction and as the name suggests, introduces the topic in question to a reader. A well-written introduction has to have three parts. The first part informs the reader about the current general position of the topic at hand, using current literature. For example, a topic on devising effective prevention strategies on obesity begins by indicating the state of obesity and what is currently used as prevention efforts. Sequentially, the author(s) proceeds to disclose the objective(s) of the research study by highlighting the gap(s) leading to the essence of conducting the study.

The section indicates why a particular prevention strategy is not producing optimal results as would be expected in reducing the global epidemic. Finally, the introduction provides hypothetical solutions to the gaps that form a basis for the research objective(s) (Armağan, 2013). The introduction is not detailed and should be limited to a half page.
