Action Movies as My Favorite Films
Action movies, a genre that fascinate me most in the film industry, have several features that make them exceptional and interesting. After a week in school or other overwhelming activities, I find great relieve and pleasure watching action movies over the weekend. In fact, these movies take up to 90% of my weekend time. One of the important features that define the formula of action movie genre is that they demand little of the higher order thought about other genres (Dirks Par. 4). Viewers do not necessarily need to bring emotions to the film. In any case, action movies are designed such that viewers associate with the protagonist who emerges victorious. Viewers, therefore, feel that they achieve what the protagonist achieves by associating with them.
It feels great to watch a movie that makes one feel empowered. Action movies exhibit a one-liner humor that makes them an attraction to interested viewers. The hero, usually a good girl or guy by wits and courage, makes films in this genre-less exhausting regarding emotions. Viewers derive satisfaction from the accomplishments of the main character despite torment and suffering subjected on them by enemies and rivals (Dirks Par. 7). However, action movies rarely feature talented actors. They, though, demonstrate the appreciation of the smartness in talented characters performing martial arts. Appreciably, these movies feature plots by having beginnings, middles, and even ends as another genre.

Rather than invoking emotive reactions, these movies invoke shock, laughter, cheering, and revulsion. These attributes make action movies pleasing from a personal perspective. I would recommend them for anyone who pursues pleasure and relaxation from movies.
General Luna is one of the historical action movies that deserve an Oscar. The movie raised the stakes because it is accepted and praised by moviegoers. Importantly, the film broke the monotony and stereotyping of the genre. In fact, the slight deviation from the norm of the genre, by focusing on real events, makes it unique. It not only stands out like an action movie but also is still exceptional compared to other movies within the same genre. General Luna not only raised the stakes but also triggered some genre changes. For instance, the movie does not resonate around the usual historical biopic. The film ends with the assassination of General Luna by his guards (Tarog), which contradicts with the usual action movies that end with the protagonist victorious. Although featuring some differences from the genre norm, the General Luna still stands out as an action film.
Action movies are usually unapologetic because the heroes emerge victorious after undergoing multiple challenges. No one bothers to restore the anomaly following the effects of the violence. General Luna was rated 13 MPAA, which some viewers may flinch at this rating because the movie focuses on violence, war, explicit language, and lots of bloodsheds.
In summary, action movies feature several characteristics that make them unique and pleasing. Importantly, these movies do not invoke feelings like would the case with other genres. This is achieved because action movies make viewers associate with the hero who emerges as the winner eventually. Appreciably, these movies feature plots by having beginnings, middles, and even ends similar to other genres. Instead of invoking emotive reactions, these movies invoke shock, laughter, cheering, and revulsion, making movies of the genre fascinating.
