An experience I am proud of and my intention to apply it in Global Studies Major at Ritsumeikan University
I have a generous personality has helped gain a perfect understanding and maintain cordial relationships with other society members. Furthermore, the traits have enhanced my interactions with other community members. Meeting and interacting many individuals who need care and compassion have always made me appreciate the essence of life. Consequently, I feel obliged to engage in a community service, volunteer programs or initiatives with the satisfaction that it will help those who need my services. That informed my decision to volunteer at the Saudi ADHD Society in Riyadh in 2013. I have always been proud of the experience I gained as a volunteer at the society and I intend to apply it as a student of global studies major at the University.
Since my young age, I had always desired to conduct a community service project in Saudi Arabia. However, it was a challenge finding an organization and a location that would be interesting to me. Besides, I needed an organization that would present a platform to engage directly with individuals who demand my service to help them cope with diverse challenges in life. Saudi ADHD Society was the first established charity organization mandated to help individuals with ADHD. It is a registered organization in Saudi Arabia under the Ministry of Social Affairs.
As a volunteer at the society, I engaged in conducting community awareness programs aimed at sensitizing society members of the condition.

I was involved in helping parents of children suffering from the condition and need diagnosis or treatment. Particularly, I instilled hope in patients of ADHD, their parents, and relatives that the condition is manageable. The experience is fundamental to me as a student of global studies major at the University. Besides Saudi Arabia, challenges of diseases such as ADHD are issues of global concerns. As a student taking global studies major, I intend to use the perspective and insight into various challenges faced by the global population to propose viable solutions to address them.
