A Sociological Analysis: Erasing the Racial Boundaries in Post-Race America.
(1) I would like to start off with a summary of the reading by Charles A. Gallagher entitled Color-Blind Privilege. The 21st century is here, and America boasts many titles including world superpower and super economy. But even at the center of such greatness lies a cancer of discrimination that is eating into the heart of the founding principles America as a nation was built upon. Charles Gallagher published an analysis in his book “Color-blind privilege: The social and political functions of erasing color line in post-race America.” And he gives his audience an unparalleled view into the cancer of racism that has been the one main issue in American socio-political History. Gallagher points out that most Americans today live in a delusional social utopia, assuming that racial segregation doesn’t exist. He systematically goes ahead to dismantle this notion limb from limb by pointing out the educational, economic and political segregation that exists between racial lines using analogies of national debt to depict the extent to which America has sunk in the war against racial discrimination.
(2A) Next, allow me to highlight the quote that moved me most; “National polling data indicate that majority of whites now believe that discrimination against racial minorities no longer exists” (Ladson-Billings, N.p)
The quote is found in the second paragraph of the 32nd chapter in page 206 of “Color-Blind Privilege”
(2B) This line moved me because it goes to show that the whites are either in denial of the reality of things or they aren’t willing to face the reality of addressing the historical racial issues in American society.

(3A) The second quote that I picked up is that; “One of the earliest things one learns in statistics is that correlation does not prove causation, but we ask ourselves why the funding inequities map so neatly and regularly onto the racial and ethnic realities of our schools” (Ladson-Billings, 7)
The quote is found in the 49th chapter, on page 376 under the subheading; “The economic debt.”
(3B) Gallagher poses a question based on the statistical analysis. The statics makes it clear; racial discrimination is still a present menace in America. I am interested in this quote because the ethnic and racial discrimination seen in the schools in the US indicates that the issue of equality has not yet been addressed. The besides, statistics never lie from the past historical beliefs.
