The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby is a novel by Scott Fitzgerald which was published in 1925. It is a famous literary work that is studied in American classrooms. The story is about a millionaire by the name of Jay Gatsby who had earned his wealth through an unclear means and tries by all means to get love. One may compare this novel to Romeo and Juliet, but in The Great Gatsby, there is much more than just a story about love. It reflects on the emptiness of a life of leisure. Gatsby tries creating a beautiful future with Daisy by reinstating the past.
The author uses Nick Carraway as the narrator, who also happens to be a long time friend of Gatsby. The speaker of the story gets to be invited to one of the legendary parties hosted by the millionaire, where he learns of the hidden affection that Gatsby had for Daisy (Nick’s cousin), who is Tom’s wife. Tom was Carraway’s friend from college. Therefore, he felt the obligation to tell him what he had uncovered. However, on their trip to the city, the narrator finds out that Daisy’s husband had yet another woman, who was someone else’s wife (Wulick).
Many rumors spread about Gatsby, which made him feel unappreciated and threatened by society. His wealth was associated with criminal acts. Time back before Gatsby was all rich, he and Daisy were in love, but he had to leave for Europe as he embarked on military duty during the Great War. When he overstayed overseas, Tom proposed to daisy and she agreed on marrying him.

Wait! About a book paper is just an example!

Gatsby was good to Nick as he wanted to entice him into reconnecting him with Daisy. And with the aid of Nick, the millionaire and Daisy begin to be seeing each other in secrecy. Eventually, Tom confronts Gatsby on the issue, and the two argue over who deserved to be with daisy.
Despite Daisy claiming to love both of them, she chooses to go with Gatsby. Accidentally as she drove Gatsby’s car, she hit and killed a pedestrian on the roadside. Surprisingly the victim of the accident turns out to be Myrtle, Tom’s secret lover. The husband of the deceased blames Tom for Myrtle’s death, but Tom defends himself by pointing out that it was Gatsby’s car that hit Myrtle (Lombardi). The husband becomes furious and goes to Gatsby’s residence where he commits suicide after shooting Gatsby.
The novel incorporates elements of poetry such as waves of literary brilliance that create a blossoming and perfect rhythm that swipes off an audience. Characters in this setting are flawed which makes it hard for a reader to sympathize with any of them. However despite the hatred, one may feel towards Daisy or Tom there is still that desire of wanting to know how things end up. Some people may say that The Great Gatsby had a sad and depressing ending as those who had dreams never got to fulfill them. The critical point being put across by the F. Scott is not a discouragement for dreaming but rather the tragedy that might come forth for chasing unworthy dreams. In the parties held by Gatsby people would show up in numbers, but none of this people were genuinely his friends as it is seen during his burial. The author depicts an era and lifestyle that was fascinating and horrific, which efficiently captures a set of young people and the society.
