Adolescence and cyberbullying on social networks

Social networks are one of the most important profits in this century, a great tool and the most used means of communication currently. There are varied social networks with different specialties but all with the same purpose: communication. Studies say that more than 84% of people (mostly teenagers) with Internet access use some social network either as entertainment, form of communication, source of information, business, etc. But the purpose with which they were created was to meet people and make friends through a profile in which you can manifest yourself through posts as texts, photos and videos. This useful tool has not only brought with it wonders to society, since it has been lent for bad uses: blackmail, scams, appropriate content distribution, falsification of data, use of false identities, among other innumerable bad practices that people performin order to harm another taking advantage of them. There will always be people of this nature and that is why you have to take care of how you use or the information you deliver in your social networks.

Adolescence and the psychological changes that it brings

Adolescence is the stage of life in which the most notorious changes both physical and psychological, where an identity is sought and meet oneself. At this stage, many changes occur in the environment and new interests such as hobbies, independence and friendships are acquired. It also arouses interest in meeting people with the same objectives, ideas and things in common, desire to experience something new or that they could not do and begin to feel in loving and sexual relationships.

Wait! Adolescence And Cyberbullying On Social Networks paper is just an example!

To explain the drastic change of leaving childhood and adapting to a new body and new thoughts argues with the idea of a new identity:

The loss of the children’s body implies the need to leave behind the modalities of childhood adjustment, abandon children’s identifications and find new behavior orientations. There are duels for the loss of the body and the child status as well as the image of the safe and protective parents of childhood (Aberastury and Knobel).

Adolescence of today and relationship with social networks

Current adolescence is very different from that of the previous centuries because social networks are a great source of communication and ways to express themselves for young people who did not exist before, today teenagers become friends with others throughSocial networks mostly for pleasure in your photos and publications, the first approach is the social network and then know in person or simply to have a virtual friend.

There are many teenagers who consider people who share messages, locations, videos, photos, etc. Through social networks without even knowing it in person, this is explained by the social anxiety that you have at this stage that implies the desire to meet people and fit with it. Through these behaviors, doubts arise such as: at what point do you get to trust a stranger?, What leads you to think that the person who asks for information will not use it against you?, Why do you tell a stranger how you feel?, Do you trust someone you don’t know enough to send you photos and/or videos of your intimate parts? All these unknowns fall on a great concept that can describe psychological aggressions through social networks called cyberbullying or cyberbully.

Cyberbullying and its great risk

Cyberbullying is reflected in school, professional, social and loving fields, but mostly it occurs in adolescents with bad intentions that, in order to feel superior or feel stronger they take advantage of other adolescents due to their insecurity, emotional instability, to their changeshormonal and extreme ideas that sometimes do not lead them to reason. What these virtual stalkers do are different types of harassment where the two most frequent are:

Threats to publish nude content: the stalker begins to interact with his victims with a false profile or as any person, they usually show themselves very pleasant at first and try to create a link with the person, they try to make this feel attracted andIn confidence, when the perpetrator not begins to ask for photos or naked videos. After the victim agrees, the stalker’s behavior is fully changed and threatens to publish the content sent and begins to manipulate their victim in different ways: sometimes they ask for money, that they cause damage, to follow instruction series, betweenothers.

False accusation and peer manipulation: the stalker knows the victim closely

And you have some type of dispute with this. Manages to access the account of this and make publications against people or little ethical thoughts and send messages with insults to key or close to the person and then manipulate them against it, make them believe the false information to dirty the reputation of the reputation ofThe person and that receives harm only through manipulated people. These stalkers are usually people with low self – esteem who do this to feel stronger.

This brings a high risk in affected people, since it leads them to have behaviors to which I did not get used before, it leads them to harm, to feel locked up, to think that they are alone, to feel weak, to feel so vulnerable to thepoint to harm, feel an unusable being and even reach the point where he can no longer and go to suicide to rest from the despair of not being able to do anything and not know who is the person who manipulates it behind a technological device.

The use of the aggressors with social networks as a tool in order to cause damage is explained by (Hinduja and Patchin):

In this way, it could be affirmed that technology gives the aggressors a great strength in terms of the frequency, duration and amplitude of scenarios and punishes victims with a hardness that could go beyond what can be seenIn traditional bullying, allowing to cause very similar or greater damage, producing the same or greater consequences that could cause traditional bullying, with the exception of physical violence, unfortunately including suicide (bullying, cyberbullying and suicide 206-221)

Social networks are a great means of communication, but it must be cautious with the use of these, you must be careful who is spoken with, to whom you give information and with whom you share your photographs. The parents of adolescents must be careful with what their child is doing, to leave their space but monitor from afar and ensure their safety and emotional stability. No one is free from a misfortune and should be cautious especially in the stage of adolescence where there are new interests, desire to experience new things and there is a need to fit with society because there are people who take advantage of it and tryharm you in order to feel better
