Moral Development
Moral development has been described as the journey through which humans undertake in developing of ideal conduct and attitude towards others within a society based on what they believe in and how they carry themselves out. I have the best personal experience that will help in bringing the aspect out clearly.
One Sunday evening on my way home I was driving and got interrupted by an urgent call by my boss, being poor at multitasking I wasn’t able to concentrate much on the road and unintentionally knocked a pedestrian who was crossing at the zebra crossing (James, 224). It was my mistake, and this wasn’t acceptable at every level, getting out the car to try and view the victim a lady came out with tears all over trying to claim the accident, but in all honesty, I was guilty. The traffic police were almost here and either of use was to be prosecuted if found guilty.
Then, I had a lot rushing through my head (James, 224). At some point the thought of getting apprehended and living behind bars for the rest of my life was just too much to bear as mentioned in the pre-conventional stage of which is dominated by the thought of what consequences you will face when you’ve committed something also the conventional scene which talks more about what the society will say about me killing an innocent person and no one will get my other side of the story. It was easier for me just to keep my mouth shut and let the innocent lady get arrested but the guilt that came with it would torment me for the rest of my life hence I decided to apply the post-conventional idea and take my blame deal with my mistake and at the very end of it i will be free and truthful to myself.
