Eight Categories of Intelligence
Howard Gardner, Ph.D. is the creator of the eight categories of intelligence (Douglas et al. 183). This paper will analyze Steve Harvey and illustrate the characteristics he embodies according to each category. Steve Harvey is an American comedian, actor, and entertainer. I picked Steve because he perfectly fits all the categories in the eight categories of intelligence. Interpersonal intelligence is the capability to appreciate and interrelate well with other people. I watch his show “Ask Steve” and it resonates well with some people I know. He is known as the voice of reason and various individuals ask him questions on relationships and life generally. He represents the linguistic category because as an entertainer, he has the skill to use sensitivity while addressing difficult issues on relationships and offer advice as well as use language to entertain his audience. When it comes to logical-mathematical intelligence, I can for sure say that he can identify patterns and that is what makes him a great advisor. In the musical intelligence category, I believe that Steve cannot sing that is what makes him a great comedian however he has hosted several radio shows and his taste in music is somewhat good.
In the bodily-kinesthetic category, even though Steve is not an athlete, surgeon or dancer, his approach is more hands-on and he has a great tactile sensitivity that makes him fit well in this category. Steve also can transform the world through comedy and he has been doing that most of his career life.

Wait! based on instructions paper is just an example!

This characteristic fits well with the spatial intelligence category. Steve Harvey’s personal life has been public from his separation with his ex-wife and his love, Marjorie. This aspect makes him able to understand others because he is in-touch with his emotions, feelings and has been able to use his life experiences to enrich and guide their lives as well as impact others and this character in him does embody the intrapersonal intelligence category. Lastly, Steve is a naturalist because he interprets the world and constructs meaning from occurring events and in his show he can explain well events to his audience.
