How would you explain the Battelle to a professional?
Battelle is a tool that comprehensively assesses the developmental progress of infants and young children which was developed in 2004 by Jean Newborg which uses formats for hand scoring or scoring using computer software (Battelle, 2018). The tool is based upon five developmental goals which include adaptive (ADP), Cognitive (COG), Communication (COM), (Personal-Social (P-S) and Motor (MOT).
Each of the five domains has its associated subdomains, and they are as below.
Adaptive domain (ADP)-self-care (SC), and personal responsibility (PR) subdomain.
Personal Social (P-S)-adult interaction (AI), peer interaction (PI), self-concept and social role (SR) subdomains.
Communication (COM) domain-receptive communication (RC) and Expressive Communication (EC) subdomains.
Motor (MOT) domain-gross motor (GM), fine motor (FM) and perceptual motor (PM) subdomains.
Cognitive (COG) domain-attention and memory (AM), reasoning and academic skills (RA) and perception and concept (PC) subdomain.
How would you explain the Battelle to a parent or caregiver?
Battelle is a tool that enables parents to track how their infants and small children are developing progressively. The tool was developed by a scientist named Jean Newborg in 2004 (Battelle, 2018). The Battelle tool is used to gauge newborn babies up to the age of 7 and eleven months. The examination takes about one hour and above depending on the development level of a child.

The test can be administered even to children with various forms of disabilities by using state modifications. The test is offered both in English and Spanish versions

A ceiling is when a child can no longer perform abilities with mastery of the content, and it is denoted with three zeroes in a row.
Do you have to administer the tests for all five domains?
The five domains do not have to be tested all at the same time. The can be administered together or independently.
What are the three different ways an administrator can gather information for a domain?
There are three ways in which an administrator can gather information.
Structured actions for straight assessments-detailed and scripted layouts which use structured questions.
Observation of the activities takes place that in a child’s usual surroundings for example home, daycare, or preschool. They include interactions with peers and grown-ups while having play activities.
Interview with parents, caregivers, and teachers-which allows exhaustive data collection (Battelle, 2018).

A score of “2”-the child’s reaction meets the set criteria in the assessment guide provided. This score signifies how the child has mastered the skill or that the developing milestone has been attained.
A score of “1”-indicates that the youngster has developing abilities or may have tried the task.
A score of “0”- indicates that the kid did not attempt the assignment or the reply was not satisfactory to obtain partial credit (Battelle, 2018).
Early intervention qualifying is predominantly constant in most states in the USA.
The child must have a minimum of a 25 percent interval in a single developing area or have a medically detected condition that may trigger the delay (Hmhco, 2018).
