Black Mirror USS Callister
USS Callister is the first episode of the fourth season of the Black Mirror in the Netflix. It is a British science fiction created by Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones. Its primary focus is modern technology and its effects on contemporary society. This paper will answer two questions which are to point out the theory of mind which is most consistency in this episode and to identify the personal identity of the digital clones.
One actor by the name Daly has the power to control his co-workers using digital technology. The workers are wholly conscious when he is not somewhere near them. The newly generated digital personality can sense time passage and capable of interacting freely with others when he (Daly) is not around (VanArendonk). Towards the end of the episode, we can see the co-workers reaching out for their real realities leaving Daly imprisoned in the world that he created for others. In short, the Daly’s co-workers are now able to travel and take escapade which Daly longs.
The most consistency theory of mind is the behavioral theory. Daly controls the behavior of his “slaves” without their knowledge. He takes the advantages and makes them perform their roles the way he wishes (VanArendonk). Subsequently, the digital copies of the co-workers seem to have no difference with the original selves. Their ways of living, their perspectives don’t change. It is just that they got trapped in various situations beyond their control.

Wait! Black Mirror paper is just an example!

My view about the episode is that human knowledge in technology is growing at an alarming rate. If this continues in the next few decades’ human being will have the ability to run the world using soft wares, create new species and even destroy ourselves.
