Abstract
Edward Thomas Hardy, better known by his stage name, Tom Hardy, is one of the most influential actors in Hollywood. He broke into the scene with his stellar performance in Christopher Nolan’s movie, Inception, where he was cast alongside Leonardo Di Caprio. In 2008, Tom Hardy played a Handsome Bob in RocknRolla where he was a gay gangster who was in love with his criminal mastermind and used his good looks and charm to get what he wanted. He then went on to play the titular character in Bronson, who was a convicted felon that was so violent he spent most of his prison time in solitary confinement. The duty upon Hardy was to depict this character without making him look comical. He undertook this role well and played the role of Charles Bronson so well that even the real Charles Bronson commended his performance. From there Tom Hardy has gone to portray numerous characters, and in most of them, he plays the villain. Again, Hardy underwent an incredible body transformation for his role as Bane in the movie The Dark Knight Rises. Tom Hardy is one of the very few actors to undergo so many body transformations to suit his roles and how he uses his emotions, words and acting pedigree to epitomize the villains that he plays as is a harmonica to how good an actor Tom Hardy is.

Introduction
You are a movie fan who loves hero movies but you realize, for a hero movie to be a hero movie, there must be a villain. Therefore, you analyze all the greatest villains that you know.
Then Tom Hardy’s name pops up in your list. He is an actor who has acted mostly as a villain, but in all his movies, albeit he is the villain, his villain feels validated, justified even (Nelson, 2018). He always has a reason for doing the atrocious acts of violence. I want to walk you through the life of Tom Hardy, one of the best actors of all time.
I have followed his characters through several movies from 2001, so I have studied the roles of Tom Hardy since Inception. I have also watched most of his interviews.
Today I want to talk about the incredible Tom Hardy.
Body
Tom Hardy can play indie movies quite well.
Hardy has a clear understanding of how to play with the emotions of the audience. He can make the audience break to tears with his performance.
He played the role of Tuck in the action-packed movie This Means War. The war was over a girl he met first, and he ended up losing her to FDR, his best friend, and opponent in the war. Previously, he had lost his wife because he kept his life a secret from her and his son thought of him as weak but he took it all. His portrayal of the sad divorcee was picture perfect.
Hardy played the role of a romantic Bill Sikes in Wuthering Heights. The chemistry that developed between him and his co-star Charlotte Riley went beyond the set, and she is currently expecting his second child.

It is here that more prominent producers noticed his acting pedigree.
He came into the scope of Christopher Nolan who selected him for his Role in Inception, and another more important role.
(Transition:) Now we understand that his portrayal of indie characters was what led him to get sighted by large producers, let’s look at the work he is famous for, being the vindicated, validated and almost justified villain.
He has played several villains, but his roles as Bronson, Ronald, and Reginald Kray, and Bane stand out the most (Peres, 2015).
Charles Bronson is the most violent inmate in the UK prisons system who took up bare-knuckle boxing after he got out of prison.
Tom Hardy had to do rigorous training for a whole year to get into the right shape for Bronson.
He imitated the workout of a man in prison by doing many push-ups, squats, bench presses and took a diet of rice and chicken, soda, pizza and ice cream to get the right body.
Tom Hardy made arguably one of the best performances in Legend where he played the role of both the Kray twins.
Ronald Kray was gay, vindictive and mostly mentally disturbed. Reginald Kray was prone to violence and fought a lot but was more mentally stable than his twin.
Tom Hardy’s version was historically correct, and it still managed to be arguably the best film about the Kray twins that has ever been produced.
“Bane” as portrayed by Tom Hardy, will forever be immortalized in the minds of DC fans.
Tom Hardy had to gain about 40 pounds in pure muscle for the role.
Hardy, who is 5’7, had to wear raised shoes to look as tall as his fellow actors Christian Bale (Batman) who is six feet tall (Thompson, 2016).

Tom Hardy has an upcoming movie called Venom
Here he plays the main antagonist to Spiderman
This might be one of his most strange roles in years.
He plays a man called Eddie Brock who ends up getting alien DNA fuse with his DNA giving him supernatural powers.
The role is seemingly both superhero as well as a supervillain.
The alien possessing Brock takes over his body functions making him lose control, but Eddie would present the image of a possessed man.
The role feels right for Hardy who is used to being the villain with cause.
Conclusion
Venom is released in studios on 5th October and is set to break sales records.
Tom Hardy is perfect for the role of the mentally damaged villain with a justified agenda and a tendency towards violence.
From interviews, however, Hardy seems more soft-spoken and can be quite hilarious because of his British humor. He is also model and does not much care for fame.
