Characteristics of a Good and Bad Manager.
Inarguably, the way managers handle their responsibilities and interact with their subordinates determine whether they are good or bad. Good managers are inspiring. A good manager tends to motivate their subordinates to put extra effort and therefore reach their individual, departmental, and organizational goals. These types of managers also are normally approachable (Sheridan 1). They interact with the employees in a friendly and professional manner. In line with these, they are active listeners, and whenever there is an issue, they listen keenly and help find a tactical solution. Good managers are also team players. They appreciate the ideas of the employees and support them.
Bad managers are associated with rigidness and routine. These managers are decree oriented in that they yell at their subordinates instead of giving them directions in a calm and professional way. These types of managers focus on micromanagement (Sheridan 1). They follow every step that the subordinates take. They criticize other employees when they make small errors and focus on their failures and weaknesses instead of their strengths. Bad managers are emotional, and they tend to ignore the successes of their subordinates. They do not appreciate and motivate other employees. They do not support the ideas of other employees even when they are beneficial.
From this research, I have learnt that good managers contribute significantly to building a positive culture in the organization.

They observe professionalism in all their operations and ensure that communication is effective. I would like to be a good manager so that I can ensure I establish an excellent teamwork culture with my subordinates. This is for the reason that by being a good manager, the employees will approach me whenever they have any issues, and this will help them meet their goals and therefore the organizational goals.
