Classroom Procedures

Beginning of class
1. Attendance taking
Hang your backpacks appropriately.
Turn in the homework at the teacher’s desk.
Put the notes on the teacher’s desk.
Ensure your class tools are on the tops of your desks.
Sharpen your pencils.
Start the class.
2. Academic warm-up
Who is your closest ally in this class?
What did we learn yesterday? (Recap of the last class lesson)
What do you expect to understand as I take you through this topic?
Come on the board and show us how we solved the previous lesson’s mathematical problem, (picking one student).
3. What do you do if you are tardy?
Why did you arrive late for the class?
If the reason is valid, allow him/her to take his/her seat, that is, Take your seat.
If the reason is invalid, warn the student not to be late again, that is, ensure you do not repeat that again.
Ensure you do not interrupt them who arrived early as you take your seat.
Instructional activities
1. Signal for student attention
Come on-
Be attentive on this.
Take note of this.
Listen keenly else you will mess.
The above calls for students to take heed of what the teacher is saying.
At times I stand up at the front of the class and hold up my hands- this implies that I am surprised at their responses, performances and dissatisfaction.
Point finger to a particular student- to silence the talking learner or refer him or her to give an answer to my question.
2. What do you do when you are done with work?
Lift your hand for the instructor to see you.
Submit work to the teacher.

Inquire from a sit mate on what next.
Take the work to the teacher’s desk..
End Class
1. Putting away supplies or equipment
Gather all the items together.
Confirm that all issued equipment has been returned.
Ask the class monitor to take them to their store.
2. Class dismissal
Indicate that the class has come to an end, for instance, and now we come to the end of our class today.
Is there any question students?
Ensure you have completed your assignment before we meet in the next lesson
Bye, see you in the next class.
Work Requirements
1. Late work
Find out why the student has submitted the work late, that is, why are you bringing your work late?
Call home to establish if the parents are aware of the student’s mistakes or are the contributors.
Penalize them for late submission, (every work you submit late you shall lose 5 points) (Rosenberg, 2006).
2. Missed work
Why did you miss doing the work? (Inquire why the student missed the work).
I will penalize you for the missed submission.
Assist the student to score in another extra credit assignment if the reason for missing is valid.
3. What do you after you return to class after being absent?
Ask the students on what was done while you were away.
Do the homework that was issued.
Make notes on what was done.
Inform the perfect that you are present.
Grading Procedures
1. How are grades calculated in this class?
All the exams count in the final grade.
The interim exams contribute a substantial percentage to the final grade.
The final exam is paramount for one to pass.
All homework has little proportion to contribute to the grade.
2. Extra credit
You earn it when you do an extra assignment.
It’s usually meant for those who failed in interim exams.
It’s usually optional (Rosenberg, 2006).
