Similarities and Differences between New York and Los Angeles Cities
Located at opposite coasts of the US, Los Angeles and New York cities are among the largest cities which receive the attention of the whole world. Extremely large and densely populated, the two cities are situated in different states, Los Angeles is located in California while New York City is found in New York. Each year, both of these megalopolises receive large numbers of visitors. Individuals live in either city based on their preferences and other factors which vary per persons. While Los Angeles and New York cities appear to have a lot in common in the manner they are depicted, the two cities are massively different in housing and populations.
While the average cost of a home in Los Angeles is $583,600, New York has an average home cost of $581,400. This indicates that it is relatively less costly to purchase a home in New York than in Los Angeles. The same case applies to renting a home in the two cities as the cost is a bit higher in Los Angeles when compared to New York. Despite this discrepancy concerning the cost of buying a home, the total homes owned in Los Angeles is higher than those owned in New York. In Los Angeles, the proportion of homes owned is 34.4% of the total while in New York is 29.03%. From the numbers above, it is apparent that the there is a high house vacancy in New York than in Los Angeles which is favorable for students and job seekers (Shepodd 1).

The climates of both New York and Los Angeles have some similarities. Both cities experience winter and summer seasons even though there are slight variations. In Los Angeles, the winters are tremendously severe while summers are warm and leisurely. On the other hand, the winter in New York usually glitters with frost. New York like Los Angeles experiences warmer seasons (summer), particularly towards the southeastern parts. Remarkably though, persons who are accustomed to warm conditions would still view New York’s surroundings welcoming regardless of the snowfall. Both cities experience rainy seasons from November and January.Both Los Angeles and New York have accomplishments that few other cities around the world have done. The two cities are enormous and comprise not older diverse inhabitants but various and successful businesses. The exceptional megapolis of New York is the epicenter of the nation. It is the leader in banking and commerce, foreign trade in addition to manufacturing. Additionally, the city is famous for theatrical production as well as magazine and book publishing. Equally, Los Angeles is the heart of trade in money and goods in addition to ambition, experience, and personality. Like Los Angeles, New York’s thousands of individuals picture a life focused on the opportunities available in both cities.
Moreover, Los Angeles and New York have populations that differ. New York population is 233% denser when compared to that of Los Angeles (Shepodd 1). This means that the population of New York City is more than double that of Los Angeles. The population of New York is 8,550,405 where that of Los Angeles is 3,971,883. The same case applies in the proportions of males to females. Females make 52.40% of New York population while males make 47.60% (Shepodd 1). In Los Angeles, men make up 49.61% of its population while the remaining percentage is females.
Although one can compare and contrast different attractions in both cities, data on the cost of living, housing, and food as well as the weather, New York City is by far better than Los Angeles. The points highlighted in this text supports it. The cost of housing is low, it has a climate which supports snow games at times, and it has a high vacancy of house plus populations. However, individuals who maximize and take advantage of what the city offer prosper the most. Lastly, Los Angeles and New York cities are depicted in a manner that makes them seem similar in many aspects, but the two cities are different when it comes to housing, vacancies, and populations. New York is better than Los Angeles when looked into precisely.
