Creative Research Project
Abstract
Many children utilize their leisure time through watching movies or playing video games. However, this interesting activity may bear both negative and positive effect on a kid`s mind as well his or her general development. For instance, movies containing pure comedy and social message can be convenient for the kid`s healthy mind development. On the other hand, movies and video game containing mean or violence content are a hindrance to the overall development of a kid. In my quest to prove desensitization theory, I prefer using reviewed document because they contain reliable contents that are not only free of assumptions but also based on supported facts. In many societies, parents perceive that the media such as music industry, television, and entertainment serve as a strategic interaction and learning tool for young kids. However, these entertainment mediums are doubtfully influencing our child living them with huge psychological impact. In short, my theory highlights how exposure to violent entertainment media can alter behavioral processes, affective, cognitive and desensitization effect.
Keywords: violence, film, behavior, kids and media
Introduction
Consequently, various researches have indicated the link on how kids watching violence films can develop aggressive behavioral issues in future. Many retrospect research has confirmed that many aggressive behaviors exhibited by young children are as a result of being exposed to violent films or playing graphic video games (Heffner and Tompkins, 1).

Wait! Creative Research Project paper is just an example!

More ever, children who are chronic viewers of violent films and active player of graphic games have shown less effort in academic, have learning disabilities, always struggling with obese, antisocial behaviors, have limited activities and hobbies.
In psychological perspective, the prime effects of viewing violence in any media are that it makes the kids less sensitive to the suffering and pain of other people (Heffner and Tompkins, 1). This is because the kid always develops a fearful illusion of the environment within them and they tend to behavior in a hurtful or aggressive manner towards other people. My preferred theory is the desensitization theory that is based on the ending emotional reaction to aversive or adverse stimulus after continuous exposure to a horrific content (Nickolath, 1). In short, this theory highlights how exposure to violent entertainment media can alter behavioral processes, affective, cognitive and desensitization effect. The effects of desensitization include elimination or attenuation of emotional or cognitive and behavioral alteration.
Discussion
In my quest to prove desensitization theory, I prefer using reviewed document because they contain reliable contents that are not only free of assumptions but also based on supported facts. Hypodermic syringe model is also based on desensitization effect. In this model, individuals are assumed to be identical, and they can be controlled uniformly using their biological instincts and their respond in a less uniform manner when a stimulus is added into the picture (Nickolath, 1). The primary objective of this model is that it shows how people wholly receive and accept the intended message projected by the mass media. In the 1940s, the Nazi propagandists used this concept to influence their agenda.
Today, the public have a tendency of consuming and implementing what the media says. Therefore, this is similar to desensitization theory because if the media intended message is violence then the society will be accustomed to hearing or seeing more about violence, and this weaken them emotionally. The more an individual is repeatedly exposed to violence in mass media the more emotional alter him or her becomes. This causes them to be insensitive to violence in reality. Currently, many children and adults are becoming immune to the fear of violence, and they embrace it as a system of solving disputes. The imitate action character in the film, and they implement violence through attacking their peers.
In the film, Kings man: the Secret Service, it has clearly projected the acceptance of violence within the younger community (Griffin, 1). The film is emphasizing on ruthless physicality in the entire film. The movie prime objective is to train under age kids to be effective central intelligence agents. They were trained on different tactical skills such as weapon management and physical fighting skills (Griffin, 1). In one of the segment, they are required to kill their personal dog to show they have the emotional strength needed for that mission (Griffin, 1). This movie has many desensitization effects because they used young characters who can be imitated by young kids. Additionally, the entire film is based on the young kid fighting and killing people. The action segment whereby they forced the kids to kill their dog shows brutally in animals (Griffin, 1). These have the impact of influencing a kid to be insensitive to physical violence for both humans and animal.
Research Methods
Simultaneously, in my research project, I will observe children who repeatedly play violent video games and see how they interact with their fellow kids. Additionally, I will review the academic and behavioral differences between children enrolled in boarding schools with kids who are either in day or home schooling system. Also, I will observe the behavioral profile of kids reported of bullying others to establish if desensitization effect has altered them. This project will be carried out within two weeks so that the kids will not be intimidated into changing their routine such as leisure time. This project will face the threat of finance, and lack of cooperation from either parents or school principals in my quest to study their kid`s behavioral nature.
Findings
Besides, in my research outcome, I was able to note that kids who have access to video games are very active in physical confrontations. They enjoy wrestling games such as tackling each other. These behaviors were mostly exhibited by boys while the girls involve each other with social games. In short, boys dwell in video games in their free time, and some of them may have access to graphic games. This, in turn, alters their behaviors negatively through desensitization effect. Furthermore, through reviewing the academic and behavioral differences between children enrolled in boarding schools with kids who are either in day or home schooling system, I obtain substantial data relevant to this project.
On the other hand, the boarding students were perfect in academic, and their behaviors were uniformly standard. However, for the day school students, they exhibited varying behaviors and academic results. For instance, some kids were brilliant will other were poor or average. They also reported many bullying and physical confrontation compared to boarding school kids. Therefore, it is has been noted that kids in the day schooling system have accessibility to violence based media content compared to boarding kids. Hence, it makes them prone to antisocial behaviors and poor performance in academics. This can only be solved if parents are involved in monitoring what their kids are watching. In addition to that, the concept of rating movies according to age will reduce the kid`s accessibility of violence content, and this will solve this issue.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the issue of desensitization effect influenced by violent films is a primary concern to the society. So far, many kids are joining the juvenile correction system because of desensitization effect. Therefore, this project is significant to any parent. It would be convenient if more research is done on the issue of desensitization. This is because, daily, more action films and television series are produced, and this significantly increase the chances of kids access them. Therefore, further research will lead to the development of software that assists parents to monitor and regulate what their kids are watching the television or doing in social media (Heffner and Tompkins, 1). In this project, I was surprised with statistical that many people are insensitive to horror movies and this is a great concern because it can increase cases of serial killing in the society. I can comprehend that violent films have adverse effects both at personal and societal level.
