The influence of culture is vast in health care; culture is the way people perceive varies ideas and behaviors. Culture varies from one society to another. In this case, culture affects many perceptions of health, illness, and death. It can also cause death because both pain and disease are expressed differently from one culture to another (Jia et al., 6). The patients here seek help, and the type of treatment given will vary from one culture to another thus affecting the health of that society.
Their respective cultures also influence health professionals and the patients. For instance, Canada’s health systems are mainly shaped by the mainstream of beliefs and the historical dominance of culture. In addition, the cultural bias can result in the difference in health-related preferences and perceptions. Such variations are called cultural competence; it allows the health caregivers to ask for various information relating to culture or belief and incorporates it with the new awareness before giving out any diagnoses and the treatment planning (Jia et al., 8).
When a health facility demon stares full awareness of culture the patients, it will provide trust and better health care, leading to higher rates of acceptance of the diagnosis which is given to the patients. Cultures have different beliefs regarding the health care in general. For instance, the Caucasians are believed to have a low tolerance to pain as compared to other ethnicities globally.
