1. Describe how you can prepare to engage, assess, intervene, evaluate and follow-up with clients.
To engage with clients, it is important practically and successfully prepare for action with persons, families, communities, and organizations. Engaging with people require a good listener and an open mind to understand their issues and therefore help them overcome them. Empathy and other interpersonal skills are critical when engaging with people. It is also necessary to develop the mutually agreed-on focus of work and desired outcomes.
Assessment is a role of social workers, and it requires proper preparations to work closely with clients to collect data relevant to a client’s problems and develop intervention strategies to help the clients (Parker, 2017). In regards to intervention, a social worker needs to be ready to help clients resolve their issues. Intervention is possible when a social worker has the knowledge and skills to implement prevention interventions, facilitate transitions, negotiate, advocate and play other critical roles for clients
Social workers also engage in evaluation which involves monitoring, analyzing and evaluating interventions to help the needy and make their lives better. There is a need to have the skills, training, and expertise to be able to perform this role.

3. The strengths-based perspective is vital to social work practice. Why do you think this is such a valuable perspective to social workers?
The strength-based perspective is important to social work practice as it helps social workers to concentrate on a client’s inner strength. It focuses on building a person’s characteristics so that they can become resilient and handle their problems. Strength-based perspective holds the belief that all persons have strengths and resources (Greene & Lee, 2011). The perspective is vital to social workers as it helps them concentrate on a person’s skills, support systems, and interests to establish what works for an individual, to do it more and build on it. Other approaches tend to focus on weaknesses, risks, and needs which are not useful in helping people to believe in them and solve their issues.
