Survival, security, belonging respect and fulfillment explore the hierarchy of needs as described by Abraham Maslow. They are important aspects based on theories of human motivation. They occur systematically one complementing the other. They describe how human motivations have a pattern and move. They are allowed based on physical as well as human needs that represent the main cause of particular behavior I individuals. They help explain why people behave a certain way and what and why people strive to achieve certain goals and objectives. The factors that can also be applied to an organization. In the healthcare sector especially within the nursing employment, the hierarchy of needs is very important in describing various aspects of the needs of employees. For example for nurses, they have to go to work to earn money in the form of income to survive. They have to secure their careers by having adequate educational backgrounds and expertise to retain their positions. They also have social needs as a profession that holds them together and gives them a sense of belonging to the field (Greenfield, 2017).
They then get professional motivation as a result of respect for the field and its influence on society regarding meeting healthcare needs. With all the above factors in place, then nurses get a sense of fulfillment. Organizations such as healthcare facilities, therefore, need to ensure that all these needs are met. Nurses are very important professionals, and they make great contributions to healthcare.
