Case Summary “Against the Grain: Jim Teague in Tanzania.”
In the contemporary world of today, ethics has been a subject that has captured the actual professional action of organizations to find the appropriate mechanism to handle decisions in a firm (Elsevier 38). It is the responsibility for the manager to ensure that the organization’s action plans are professionally accepted depending on the situations that arise in within the company (Snyder 458). Considering the case of Jim Teague in Tanzania, “Against the Grain,” who is an intern at Agri-fund describes the ethical dilemma when he violates the health code just days before the payment due (2016). Jim Teague endangers the lives of the people in agro-processing by encouraging the unprofessional aspect which in turn places an adverse risk to his employer. Under his service point of business and financial manager, he is responsible for providing loans to hundreds of farmers related to agro-processor in the impoverish regions of Tanzania. Therefore, the case presents an ethical dilemma on either to offering the loans to the farmers or stop providing the financial services due to unhealthy practices affecting the people. The basis of this case is the motivational impact of Jim Teague in the society is creating values to the people and restoring social responsibility to the community. One of his firms’ major clients, Kira Flour applies for a loan, however; he notes that the company has some unethical practices.

At this point, Jim notes that Kira flour an agro-processing company has been transacting unlicensed products despite the greater revenue by E. coil. The income test, in this case, is conducted by TCA certification board of Tanzania. The impact further extends to the TFC whereby unlicensed products could receive severe fines or shut the firm from service provision. Despite the situation, the company’s owner cannot offer Jim think clearly over the matter since he believes that TFC and TCA are corrupt bodies of the government (“Against the Grain” 2016).
Prescriptive Case Analysis
Jim’s experience in foreign land portrays an entirely different business structure distinct from the professional objectivism and practices. The environment has various cultural practices with unique business and ethical aspect of life which is separate from the American counterpart practices. The moral dilemma portrayed at this point of view is to process loan to Kira Flour which will lead the company to the loss of good reputation and litigation. On the other aspect, revoke loans to Kira Flour days before harvest will damage the livelihoods of many farmers among other employees in the company. Immanuel Kant presented morally philosophical argument on deontological ethics that displays the judgment action based adhering to the rules (qtd. in Kamm 477). This theory further elaborates the duty to work according to the job description binding individuals to a clear responsibility. However, this theory further gives a contracting ideology to consequentialism and virtue ethics.
Conclusive Prescriptive Premise and the Actual Plan
Thus, this brings in the first concept of moral action to correspond to the duty (deon) and the responsibility of an individual in an organization. The second aspect is that consequences of particular actions are not the judgment of that is wrong or right but the motives of the person carrying the workforce. Kant theory gives an elaborative ideology which reflects clear in this case that any action of a person should be morally right and purely corresponding to the duty that either presents useful in itself or good without any qualification (qtd. in Kamm 479). Therefore, the actual professional plan, in this case, requires Jim to establish the intrinsically safe and the impact of introducing other things in a particular situation without interfering with the ethical standards (Snyder 459). Another action plan relevant to the case brings about the moral values of appropriate decisions by choosing the rational maxim of legislating members into universal acceptance of the situation. Besides, respect for humanity also allows self or other people live in a just environment. Consequently, Jim should address this issue rationally through the involvement of the management and the stakeholders as a form of creating an understanding of the situation.
Descriptive case Analysis
According to the website “Against the grain,’’ Jim Teague has a moral dilemma of the wise maxim of offering loans to Kira flour risking the livelihoods of the people (2016). The counterpart situation is revoking the loan offer to the unethical practices whereby the agro-processing negatively affects the health of the citizens. The health of residents is essential in the same situation the capital is vital in the improving the standards of the impoverishing farmers in Tanzania. The certification of business practices, and the daily operations of the organization has a high rate of unethical practices rendering the wrong aspect prevail without recognition by stakeholders of Jim’s workplace. The contemporary deontology of Frances Kamm of the “Principle of Permissible Harm” tends to offer harmonized and cohesion of judgment on Kant’s circumstance ethically contrasting in morals with the rational situation. The “Principle of Permissible Harm” therefore, states that one may cause harm to another party in case the injury has more good (Kamm 478).
Conclusive Descriptive Premise and the Actual Plans
The descriptive conclusion, therefore, expands the argument of Kant ideology of pure correspondence to the duty of good action without qualification (Kamm 681). Thus, the relevance of the action plan, in this case, requires the intrinsic good despite the harm in consideration of the ethical standards. Consequently, solving the dilemma in this situation requires sound action itself without qualification by offering the loan to Kira Flour mill which intends to benefits the majority of impoverishing farmers in the country. The actual plan of this context will require majority receiving the favor of financial funds despite the minors suffering the health livelihood. This principle permission also considers the harm through improving the situation to avoid more damage and derive greater benefit from the situation.
Conclusion
The basis of the study case introduces the dilemma in the ethical decision of the circumstance facing Jim Teague. The credit services to Kira flour mill certified firm by the TFC has the governmental authorization to offer agro-processing as a way to improve the living standards of the people. Therefore, the Prescriptive analysis of this case is necessary for viewing the broader aspect of the situation to allow the moral prevalence of actions. The health standards and the licensing board have the right to rebuke or allow business practice in Tanzania. Thus, Jim Teague needs to professional access the moral aspect and the benefits of the financial offer to the firms. As a recommendation on the ethical action plans, essential professional practices and objective standards need to be introduced to the firm as a way to incorporate new changes of building standard reputations (Snyder 459). However, this may be a challenging task to achieve a descriptive analysis of this situation of greater unprofessional practices in across the country. Jim should settle the unethical practices addressing his employer and to derive the advantages of ethical and professional action. The firm should address the corruption as an unethical concept of practice and may affect the economy of the enterprises and the country.
