1942 War between the United States and Japan
The war was declared in 1941 by the United States Congress. It was a form of retaliation for a previous attack which had been conducted by Japanese forces. The Japanese had attacked the American naval base as well as the British forces in Malaya, Singapore. As such, the American attack was simultaneous with another one which had been declared by the British Empire.
Japan’s attack against the United States and the British Empire was a form of preventive measure. This was after a failed negotiation between the Americans and the Japanese. The Agreement required the Japanese to withdraw from China and Indochina. They were trying to protect their territories neighbouring the United Kingdom, the US and the Netherlands along the Coasts of Pacific Ocean. They attacked the American fleet to keep it away from getting into their affairs, preventing them from winning their war in South East Asia (Chun and Gerrard, 2006). Although the attack was a surprise to the Americans, the two countries had some disagreements which were traced back to the 1920s. As such, both countries had been strategizing wars against each other.
One of the main results of this war was the emergence of World War II. After the United States had ordered an attack on the Japanese Empire, Russia declared war against the United States some days after the previous American attack (Chun and Gerrard, 2006).

Similarly, Italy declared war against the United States. Consequently, the United States declared war against both Italy and Germany. The attack by the Japanese empire caused the death of over 2,403 men who were sunk on their ships by bombing (Chun and Gerrard, 2006). Lastly, the war resulted in the
United States becoming allies with Great Britain and Russia, which lesd to the defeat of Hitler.
