The contemporary environments in healthcare are dynamic because it combines enduring practice patterns with developing ones in order to meet opportunities and challenges at different times. Healthcare is centered around the critical aspects of the society including birth, death, and caring for one’s life. It is, therefore, a common reference point. Moreover, the demographic factors of the population usually have a direct effect on the healthcare system since an increase in population in need of professional healthcare will lead to the requirement of more labor and facilities. Moreover, diseases come in different forms, and each provides new challenges. This makes their working environment dynamic.
OSHA regulations are defined in Part 1910 from Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations. Part 1910 is divided into Subparts with letter designations; Subpart A, Subpart B, etc. Identify the fourth letter of your last name (per the D2L classlist), and briefly summarize the subpart contents and purpose in 6 sentences or less. My fourth letter starts with U, therefore, I will discuss subpart Z. OSHAS subpart Z deals with toxic and hazardous substances. The part is designed for individuals who handle chemicals that are dangerous or hazardous.

It provides the standards that are required when handling such toxic chemicals and the precautions that should be taken to avoid poisoning or lethal levels of exposure. It is mostly directed towards employees who work under hazardous conditions that involve chemical handling. The subpart C is intended for occupational safety and standards of health.
What are “the 3 E’s of Safety”? Identify and define.
The three E’s of safety are Evaluation, Education, and Enforcement (Carl and Potter, N.p).
Evaluation- this involves the analysis and checks against a specific and safe standard.
Education- this is an attempt to enlighten oneself on how to handle different problems and training oneself to solve problems in case of an encounter.
Enforcement- this process involves the implementation of rules and laws according to the system requirements. This will ease the running of operations as people know the consequences of their actions.

It is critical for health and safety professionals because the occupational health and safety transcend multiple disciplines including economics. Because economics is part and parcel of the healthcare industry, the health professionals should familiarize themselves with everything that surrounds them.
There are several theories of accident causation that have been proposed throughout the years. In general, why should a Health & Safety Professional be familiar with them?
The healthcare and safety professionals should be conversant with the theories of accident causation because they can use these models to prevent and predict accidents. These theories include; domino theory, combinational theory, behavioral theory, accident theory, etc.
Accidents are a serious detriment in today’s workplace. Discuss some of the effects.
Injuries and accidents in workplaces can have a significant impact on the business as there will be reduced productivity, reduction in sales, a decline of the morale of the staff and can even lead to the closure of the business. It is therefore critical that businesses take safety measures and mitigation plans in action in case of an accident or an emergency.
There are three levels of controls that we use to prevent injury due to Health or Safety hazards. Describe each, and rank them from most preferred to least preferred.
The three levels of control include (“Three Levels of Health Promotion/Disease Prevention,” N.p);
Primary prevention-these are measures that prevent the injury or disease from its initiation. E.g., immunization
Secondary prevention- these are preventive steps that lead to early diagnosis and therefore commencement of treatment of the injury illness or disease in order to prevent the problem from being severe.
Tertiary prevention- these are rehabilitative measures following critical injury or illness. They include rehabilitation, education and retrain those who have developed disability or impairment.
