Executive Summary
Introduction:
The team is concerned with addressing the major challenges facing international students at Lundquist College of Business. Recent statistics have shown that the number of immigrants in the United States is continually increasing. International students in the University of Oregon have also increased significantly. However, these students are faced with numerous challenges in their career development. Few local organizations are willing to hire them and thus, they lack an opportunity to acquire practical skills in a working environment. For this reason, we have proposed for the International Student Development Program which will ensure integration of the students from various parts of the world and expose them the work experience which is crucial for their career.
Situational Analysis:
It was noted that LCB provides best classroom knowledge to its student but little exposure to practical skills. The Daily Northwestern reveals that most of the international students are less advantageous because most of the employers are not willing to hire them due to their cultural diversity and limited exposure to working experience (Burakoff). Our team has drafted a detailed proposal with facts and supporting information addressing the needs of the international LCB student as well as how they can be equipped with the necessary leadership and communication skills. The survey conducted shows that the following proportion of the employers would be willing to hire international students: 23.

4% in the national average, 60.0% in the accounting services 29.2% in the financial and insurance services and 20.0% in the management consulting field. This was a clear indication that it is only in the accounting field where employers offer an opportunity to the international students compared to other industries.
Objectives:
Adopting the proposed program at the LCB will achieve the following objectives
Expand the potential of the international students to acquire practical experience.
Improve the communication skills of the international LCB students for their professional and academic development.
Establish a new perspective with the international LCB students.
Provide local businesses with interns which they do not necessarily have to pay.
Solution:
Our primary motive is to address the challenges faced by the international students in the workplace. The leaners will be required to undergo through a leadership and communication class known as the International Student’s Development Program which will prepare them to work with the local companies. The participants will have an added advantage compared to their peers who have not gone through the program. They will be set free to compete in the workforce just like any other candidate. The program is likely to be appreciated by many employers and hence attracting many international students across the United States.
Cost:
The estimated annual cost of running this program will be $167,000 where much of this projection is dedicated to catering for the salaries and wages for the teachers involved in executing the program. High return on investment is expected.
Conclusion:
The challenges facing international students are mainly due to the lack of leadership and communication skills. Providing complementary program in our universities will help in changing the employers’ perspective. The education system ought to adopt an integration of the working environment and classroom for the benefit of the international students. A program that exposes the leaners to the work experience is essential in their career development.
