The principal purpose of the study was to explain the reasons for the decline of Nokia.

There were three hypotheses which include: viewing Nokia’s decline as a result of the destruction of creativity, failure to adapt to evolutions related to technology and business model changes, and the failure of the management to develop excellent execution, strategies, and organization (Burgelman 46).

The method used to collect data for the study was the primary data collection method. The results of the study were that further studies need to be done on three subjects that will in a greater way to influence future management. These subjects include reasons why techno companies including Motorola, Ericsson, and Blackberry were on decline same as Nokia due to the stiff competition they faced from iPhone and Android-enabled phones. This is in addition to a need to research on why Nokia, Motorola, Ericsson, and Blackberry were not able to manage the disruption experienced in the mobile industry. Finally, strategic leadership qualities that were demonstrated by Risto Siilaasma; Nokia’s Chairperson, to dispose of the weak Nokia phone division, a move that salvaged Nokia company as a whole (Burgelman 47).
In conclusion, the authors’ state that a case study of the demise of Nokia provides an opportunity to scholars and business leaders on the challenges that big corporation faces as a result of advancement in technology as occasioned by other competing corporations (Burgelman 47).
6. What is your opinion or reaction to this article and the research reported in it? Please describe why you feel the way that you do.
The article does not clearly state the possible reason for the fall of Nokia as a company as would have been expected. The article instead creates an opening for researchers to analyze further the article that will probably answer the possible reasons for the fall of Nokia.
