The trait and behaviors of today’s people, accompanied by genetics, are major determinants of their development and growth; their psychosocial, mental and physical health; and their academic, cognitive and physical performance. Advances in technology in the modern society have put into a sedentary lifestyle that has changed peoples’ phenotypes from that of 15 to 20 years ago. Today, people weigh more and have a higher BMI (body mass index) than their counterparts just a few years earlier (Bell, Bell and Georgiou 19). This essay is a summary of a survey I conducted on the frequency and type of exercise among my friends and relatives and below is a highlight of the results.
More people are consistently exercising each week, with over fifty percent showing frequent exercise, more than two years ago when I started tracking the metrics. In all months this year, more people reported participating in exercises for at least forty minutes more than three days every week than in a similar month for the last two years. This indicates that peoples’ habits in exercising habits seem to be improving this year.
From the survey, it came out clearly that exercise has a seasonal inclination with more people working out less in winter and more in the summer. The difference in exercise frequency during winter and summer is on average about 7.0 percent. The survey on frequency of exercise varies by demographics. Women are less likely than men to exercise frequently.

Younger adults, aged between eighteen and twenty-nine, are notably more likely to report frequent exercise than older ones. Beyond fighting weight gain, frequent exercising has numerous other beneficial aspects. Previous research has shown that exercising frequently improves emotional health and body image.
