Subject: Thank You for the Consideration
Dear Mr. Henderson,
The term has been long enough, and we have done a lot in the UWP 104A class. I would wish to take this opportunity to thank you personally for supporting and taking us through the business writing course.
I have learned a lot of ideas and concepts, which I believe will be essential to me in my daily engagements. I would also like to thank you for graciously accepting my argument regarding the course quizzes. In one of my previous emails, I contested my quiz grade after noting that the quiz’s answer key had errors in it. I am glad you considered my plea; thank you again. As per the syllabus, 10% of the course grade is determined based on civility, business communication acumen, and effective participation. As such, I thought it wise to compose this email, before the end of the academic quarter, not only as part of my business communication but also as part of my class participation. Therefore, it is my humble plea that you consider integrating this as well in my final grade.
Nevertheless, I would like to reiterate that you have been an awesome business instructor, and I enjoy your classes so much. I believe I have been a good student as well, and I will continue being a good student. Notwithstanding, I hope to hear from you as soon as possible.
Yours Sincerely

Subject: Unfortunately, I cannot rate you positively
Dear Mr.

Wait! Good News vs. Bad News Email paper is just an example!

Henderson,
I am afraid to inform you that I have not been comfortable with how you teach, grade, and integrate course materials in the classroom. I think you are not considerate of problems that a section of students face as they interact with course materials.
Precisely, I feel that you were unfair in the manner in which you declined my request for an extension on a grade paper’s due date. I had midterms in other classes that were scheduled concurrently, and I did not have time to study adequately for both the midterms and the quiz. As a result, it would be challenging for me to complete the quiz as successfully as I had wished. Moreover, given that the quiz carries 10% of the final grade, I had a hunch that it would have a negative impact on my final grade. I am glad you adjusted my quiz grade following my complaint regarding the errors in quiz answers. Be that as it may, I still believe my full participation in the classroom was paramount because the class’s course outline stipulates that 10% of the course grade is determined based on civility, business communication acumen, and effective participation. Unfortunately, the decline to accept my deadline extension request seem to have hindered my effective participation. Consequently, I am bound to lose 10% percent of my final grade, and that makes me unhappy. There is also a group of students who feel that their quiz grades were quite unfair.
As a consequence, I am sorry to inform you that I cannot give a positive rating to the administration regarding your overall teaching and assessment strategy. Please, accept my apologies if this might cause you any inconveniences. I am glad you granted me this chance to speak to you.
Sorry again for any inconveniences.
Yours Sincerely,
___________
