How School Policies and Procedures may be Developed and Communicated
In every school, there must exist policies. Policies exist to guide the smooth running of the internal processes of an institution. National laws exist, but they cannot help in the running of the internal operation of schools and organizations. However, many policies stem out of government directives and laws. Examples of school policies include child protection, fire safety, and confidentiality among others. Since governments tend to come up with several guidelines, development of strategies needs to occur on an ongoing basis.
If an issue needs consideration and it happens that such issue s not covered in the existing school policies, the meeting gets convened, where interested parties attend. Policies guide the relationship of teachers to students, and that among pupils and that of teachers, and also the school staff. During meetings, participants give contributions to the proposed policy (Hall, 2017). All the ideas presented during the conference go into the initial first draft of the plan.
After adoption of the suggestions of all the interested parties into the suggested policy, the head teacher proceeds to report and present the proposed plan to the board of management. The board of governors may reject the proposals wholly or make amendments to the draft policy. If the board rejects the propositions made, the school would have to reconvene another meeting to take suggestions afresh (Hall, 2017).

Wait! how school policies and procedures may be developed and communicated paper is just an example!

However, if the board agrees with the draft, they will allow the policy to start guiding the operations of the school.
Approved draft policies must fall within the realm of the national curriculum. Realization of new procedures must occur within the existing laws or else they may get challenged in courts of law. Once the board of management passes school policies, the same gets communicate with pupils and all school stakeholders (Meador, 2017). Communication may get done through seminars at the beginning before degenerating to less aggressive means. Whatever means that policy gets communicated, it should target the desired audience (Hall, 2017). Since this is a school policy, putting up of posters in conspicuous places in the school may help in the communication of the new procedures.
When students, staff, and the teachers get down to drafting their own guiding rules among themselves, they should always have the school policies to guide the exercises. Continued consideration of school policies continues to leave footprints of the school policy; thus, it is also a way of continued communication of school policies (Meador, 2017).
Children love visuals; schools should take it upon themselves to find the best possible way to communicate policies to students. Engaging students in creating awareness of the school policies through plays helps in delivering the tenets of the programs (Hall, 2017). Even the use of audios may help in spreading the desires of new school policies. Reading is not a personal favorite for many people; hence, using of alternatives to text would help in spreading what new systems demand.
Some of the conventional ways employed in communicating policies include memoranda for the staff and the students. Also, there is the briefing of staff during weekly or monthly meetings. Instead of eating up to study time, staff meetings are an excellent time to communicate new policies. In cases where the school has a website, and both staff and students have access to the site, new systems should get pinned to the home page. While still on the internet, emails can get sent to everyone’s email box as soon as the policy comes into being. However, holding meetings where all stakeholders and students attend would help in conveying the message of commitment in realizing of the new governing procedures.
Development of school policies and procedures takes a defined route of engaging those that the plan would affect directly and the school management. Those that policies affect should get considered because they may outrightly reject the proposal at implementation stage if they do not get involved at the creation stage. Communication of policies should take the most straightforward forms while ensuring that they create the most significant impact (Meador, 2017). Students love visuals, and it would be proper for the school management to sue visuals as much as possible when communicating new procedures to students.
