Abstract
The paper introduces the concept of air pollution as a global health hazard. It outlines the annual mortality statistics in China, U.S, and India. From the statistics, it illustrates the significant danger of encouraging air pollution in the atmosphere. The paper outlines the different causes of air pollution in the three countries and its effects such as depleting the ozone and causing the global warming effect. It discusses the health risk factors of air pollution such as cancer, kidney and liver damage, and chronic bronchitis. The paper analyzes the efforts employed by different health and environmental organizations in dealing with air pollution. For instance, it identifies the specific efforts of the WHO, WB, and EA in controlling air pollution, additionally, it provides the government intervention approach in dealing with the issue. The paper outlines the strategies of these organizations such as encouraging green development and use of renewable energy. It discusses the government efforts that include developing policies to regulate industrial operation with respect to green practices. Finally, it provides a comprehensive conclusion containing a summary of the information discussed in the paper.

Air pollution is a global health hazard that is caused by human activities such as industrialization. It occurs when toxic fumes from motor vehicles and industries rise upwards to mix with natural air and rain water.

Schnelle Jr et al., (2015) argues that industrialization in china is contributing to the 60% of air pollution in the atmosphere while 35% is due to increased use of motor vehicles and motorcycles. In 2013, about 1.2 million deaths were accounted to air pollution infections and there are speculations that this figure may increase in future. It is estimated that 48% of the Chinese citizens breathe intoxicated air. The climate of China has also changed due to the global warming effect caused by the air pollution; this is causing increased incidents of skin cancer.
In India, 25% of the deaths that occur annually are accounted to air pollution. For instance, in 2014, about 527, 000 people died of infections caused by air pollution. Many people are investing in the motor industry in India, which is likely to increase air pollution. The drug industries and research works are also being established; this shows that more people in the country will be affected by airborne diseases in future. Currently, about 23% and 12% of the lung and heart infections in the country are linked to air pollution.

Motor vehicles, motorcycles and other engines that use petroleum fuel release lead components to the atmosphere due to incomplete combustion. The lead ions mix with air and are breathed by humans. It causes infections such as lung cancer, which leads to death. In the U.S, the motor industry contributes 17% of the emission of lead fumes in the environment (Smith et al., 2014).
The air pollution results in the emission of gasses such as carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide that deplete the ozone layer. Currently, the ozone has been depleted by 11% around the U.S, 9% around China and 8% in India; this accounts for the increased instances of skin cancer (Wang & Hao, 2012). The ozone depletion has resulted in global warming that causes unbearable temperatures during the day in some parts of China. Breathing polluted air also poses the risk of contracting infections such as chronic bronchitis, nausea, cough, kidney and liver damage.
Health Promotion and Prevention
Different organizations are working together in ensuring the levels of air pollution globally are managed. For instance, the World Bank is funding awareness campaigns on the negative effects of air pollution. In 2009, the WB budgeted about $ 800 million for air pollution control; this was used in supporting projects that increase energy efficiency in China, U.S and India (Schnelle Jr et al., 2015). The WB is supporting individuals and organizations with projects involving green energy. It aims at reducing the amount of fuel used in industries and motor engines
The WHO has organized for awareness campaigns on the effect of air pollution in developing nations. The information has enabled people at society level to identify factors such as smoking as primary causes of air pollution. The WHO is currently working with GAHP in developing policies for carbon regulation in industries; this is based on the fact that carbon fumes can be controlled easily through the CCS process.
The Environmental Agency (EA) is encouraging the use of renewable energy such as solar and the wind. The organization has initiated projects that are directed towards increased manufacture of solar panels in addition to discouraging the use of leaded fuel globally.
The governments of China, U.S and India are working with the environmental and health agencies in ensuring the levels of air pollution decline globally (Wang et al., 2012). In China, the government has developed policies that investors must adhere as a measure of initiating green development. In the U.S, companies that are not conserving the environment properly are deregistered and sued for pollution. The Indian government has also implemented policies on environmental protection to regulate the operation of companies and promote environmental conservation. In conclusion, air pollution is responsible for several health problems that affect people. Globally, air pollution causes about 3 million deaths yearly. The WHO, WB, EA and government organizations have, however, realized the impact of air pollution and responded through establishing policies that ensure proper control of emissions. In the future, the level of air pollution is in this regard likely to decrease.
